winnar ATI

...but ATI decided to throw in even more of the good stuff. Whereas the X1800 has 16 pixel pipelines, or pixel shader processors as ATI refers to them, the X1900 XTX comes with an astounding (and baffling) 48 pixel shader processors. It also has a core that's clocked at 650MHz and 512MB of GDDR3 RAM clocked at 1.55GHz. All these numbers boil down to a card that's very fast, in specific ways...

but fuck me, 650 bucks just for a card? holy shit no thank you.

Well NVidia's 7800 top of the line card runs about $700 plus so that's about in line with that with ATI's being a little cheaper. Goes to show that if you want the absolute top of the line, it's going to cost ya.

btw, good article over at Tom's Hardware on the new ATI

650 is the sugested, so it will be atleast 700 at launch, I forsee $850.

New cards like this have horrible yeilds and are very hard to come by near launch and even a monthish afterward.

Couldn't be more wrong, I just ordered my X1900XTX for $649.

ATI has had this card ready for launch to make up for the disasterous release of the R520

my entire system cost me 900 bucks roughly, no way would i spend just half of that on a video card. I'd buy 2 game consoles instead lol

of course I'd use that 649 bucks to put a down payment on a new car or something lol or car parts.. so i cant really say anything...
