I read about this in Popular science like 6 months ago. How it works is the bullets are actually stacked in an array of tubes (which you can see in the video). The bullets are actually triggered by an electric charge which fires the topmost bullet. Heres a diagram from the article I read:
The article itself can be found here: http://www.popsci.com/popsci/technol...cbccdrcrd.html (You will also notice some links to other nifty futuristic weapons in that article, including the Rods from God article I posted a while back.) |

At least now I know where the schematics are in case I want to build one.

Old :P
This isn't really designed as an infantry weapon, heh. One concept is to irrigate an entire area (say, an enemy convoy) with lots and lots of lead.

The gun katas. Through analysis of thousands of recorded gunfights, the Cleric has determined that the geometric distribution of antagonists in any gun battle is a statistically predictable element. The gun kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increase to lethal proficiency makes the master of the gun katas an adversary not to be taken lightly. |
