Purchasing Questions.

Ok first off whats the difference between the two versions??
I get the basics, but i mean is this.

I can pay $20 and buy Aftershock, then buy a gamecard at EB and use that to play for 90 days or whatever.

So i purchase Aftershock, Download and install it, use the provided key??? the launcher downloads the 3.5 GB of files or whatever.
then i use my gamecard on my account, to upgrade it to paying.

But what if i just use my reserves account, use a gamecard and upgrade...
do i still get aftershock??? did i just avoid paying $20 and THEN another $60 for a 90 day gamecard?? or do i simply get to play reserves and gain more exp.

im not sure how all this crap works and need someone to explain it in lengthy detail.

Why should i spend the $20 for aftershock if i can just upgrade my reserves account using a gamecard???

Also, once the files have been downloaded, Can i burn this to a CD to install later like after i format my drive?? or do i need to use the key and download it again each time i want to reinstall windows??

Ideally what i want is a clean version to burn on CD IE no account info etc...
so it just installs everything then i play.

Your reserves account has all ready got Aftershock as part of it, originally Aftershock was an expansion but now all retails are a combo between aftershock and original Planetside, or atleast thats the situation in the UK

After any updates, you can copy your Planetside folder to a CD. You would then install Planetside as you would normally then copy your updated CD version to your fresh install. That will update you as far as when you wrote it. Any further patches between that and your re-install will have to download via the launcher.

so are you saying i dont need to spend the $20 to buy aftershock, i simply need to get a gamecard, enter the key and it upgrades me to full version.

Do i only need to use that key once per install??

Like if i buy the gamecard today, and enter the code.... i only need it once?

I've got a question too. I sent this to Sony, but got a bounce back on their email address:

I'm thinking about moving from a reserves account to a paying account. If I move to a paying account, but then have to cancel my subscription, will I still be able to play in the reserves with the same character?

If I can return to the reserves, will I be able to keep the battle rank I attained whilst on the paid account (let's say I get to BR15)? Or will I be 'demoted' to BR6 again?

Finally, if I then move from the reserves *back* into a paid sub again, will I be given back the highest-battle rank I attained (BR15), or will I be starting from BR6?

--

Any ideas?

OK I download Aftershock from fileplanet.
Installed it, acts the same as reserves.

so the key needed is for account upgrading right??

Also When i used the reserves installer/launchpad etc, when the launcher opened it said "Core Comabt" and then below it "1 Expansions Enabled"

Now after installing aftershock it says "Order Core Combat" And "1 Expansions Enabled"

Whats the deal?

Basically ..... if i go to EB and buy a 90 day game card ...... that means once i enter the code, im playing full out, no limitations or anything no matter if im using aftershock or reserves?

The way I understand it is Reserves is the same as Aftershock. The only difference is people using Reserves have limits. Once you get the Game Card you then unrestrict your character.

Once you switch to a paying account and are playing unrestricted, you can***8217;t use that same account to ***8220;degrade***8221; your account to the free Reserves account.

Correct me if that is wrong. I haven***8217;t played in a while and haven***8217;t been keeping up with it in detail.

...

I sent a new email to Sony and I'm still waiting for a reply. However, I suspect you're right Ivan.

I suppose I could get a sub then, if I needed to cancel, reinstall the reserves client and fight under a different character name. That's assumption, though.
