rethinking CR5

hi,

first off I'd like to mention that I've been in the army for 10 months now, so I'm out of touch with planetside. I just thought of this idea when I was real bored. if someone likes it, feel free to copy it to the OF. I'm out of PS for at least another 2 years anyway.

anyway, I thought that because of the amount of players who are now CR4/5's they should be given win ratings.

basiclly, what happens is every continent can have a single active general who gets some extra tools. the game tracks the empire's control of the continent and gives the general a score every few minutes for his performance. with things like population ratio's and benefits taken into account, tracking the last 10 hours of active leading for a player should give a pretty accurate view of how well the empire did under his command.

the active general is picked based on his rating, with CR5's of course having priority of course. when a CR4/5 enters a cont with no leader he gets a pop-up asking him to lead. when one enters a continent with a leader who is either significantly less skilled (10% rating difference or something) or a CR5 enters one with a CR4, they can take command, but the old general has a 20 minutes or so before he loses command, unless he relinquishes it.

the basic idea is letting the good leader lead, and letting everyone know who they are.

tools given to generals:
-waypoints
-different color global text
-generals' chat
-list of all squad/platoon leaders, as highest ranking outfit member in outfits with at least 6 online players, what square on the map they are and the group's size. you can turn off showing up in options.

watch think?

I like the idea of a general, although of course the fairness would have to be carefully judged and so would require a lot of tweaks. And the tools are practically already available I'm afraid. Very nice idea though, worth following up on.

Would've been a good idea prior to the game being launched, but with the amount of CR5's running around right now I don't see it being a very good idea. Each person will very, very, very rarely get to play the leader.

Also, each level of CR should reduce the maximum BR by 1, so a CR5 could only get BR20, and BR 21 - 25 should be given the combat stuff like EMP.

No, the EMP would stay with the Commanders because you are sacrificing 5 battle ranks lol...Let's not make this a trammy game.
