Author Topic: Flying and Trees
Nightstorm2001 Station Member Registered: Oct 2001 posted 02-17-2003 01:29 AM user search report post -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Imagine if you will an area of land with a sparce covering of trees now could you fly low enough to fly in and out of the trees. If you can are the trees a threat of danger in that if you hit one then your toast or are they gonna be insubstantial. Personally im hoping that trees will be a problem to pilots. SJ had the word SmokeJumperPS Station Admin Registered: Sep 2001 posted 02-17-2003 09:36 AM user search report post -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I fly a Reaver between trees all the time when I know I'm being hunted by missiles or Mosquitoes. Trees are very dangerous. Hit one and you tend to spread yourself thin all over the country. But they are very useful for shaking missiles and enemies, as well as skulking through quietly so that you can pop up and ambush a nearby road. They're risky...and you still might want to bail if your pilot heads there...but it depends on the pilot. Good ones can use trees quite advantageously. http://boards.station.sony.com/ubb/p...ML/002855.html

haha, imagine being in a convoy moving up on a road in the middle of a forest.
then seeing 1 galaxy coming low out of the trees passing over the road then back in the trees never to be seen again. reaction of the drivers: "must've been the beer" |

So no more complaints about the boating system being too simple, as there is obvious complications and hazards. |

i do think that tree flying will require skills. Just to take back the tribes2 comparison on the previous post, i dont remember tribes2 having forests. maybe a tree once in a while but no dense forest. In the screenies that we have seen, there will be dense forest and tree dodging will be much harder.
For that i think it will require skill, altho the general physics of the FM doesnt wich is bad, imho, but still trees is a good start. |

I would take the choice of living, for I cant manuver a shrike through the rocks in Stonehenge (I made it through 2 but the 3rd one was angle bad and I was goin 330ks )
The main thin I would do in forests is sniping up in the brush an takin a buggy down the long corridors.......weeeeeeeee
