Imagine if you will an area of land with a sparce covering of trees now could you fly low enough to fly in and out of the trees. If you can are the trees a threat of danger in that if you hit one then your toast or are they gonna be insubstantial.
Personally im hoping that trees will be a problem to pilots.

I fly a Reaver between trees all the time when I know I'm being hunted by missiles or Mosquitoes.
Trees are very dangerous. Hit one and you tend to spread yourself thin all over the country. But they are very useful for shaking missiles and enemies, as well as skulking through quietly so that you can pop up and ambush a nearby road.

They're risky...and you still might want to bail if your pilot heads there...but it depends on the pilot. Good ones can use trees quite advantageously.

haha, imagine being in a convoy moving up on a road in the middle of a forest.

then seeing 1 galaxy coming low out of the trees passing over the road then back in the trees never to be seen again.

reaction of the drivers: "must've been the beer"

So does this finally mean that pilots will quit moaning about the "boating" piloting system? If so, yay!

Why? This dosn't say anything about the flight system, could still be boating.

Misinterpretation of my post. What I meant by it is the fact that this shows that there is SKILL involved in piloting, boating system or not. The complaint that having a boating system means there are no 1337 skillz is now obviously proven to be false (as I always thought anyhow).

So no more complaints about the boating system being too simple, as there is obvious complications and hazards.

Well if it is boating like T2 I would still call it too simple, and the we will see about skills when the game's out.

If my pilot starts weaving in and around trees with no threat at the moment I'm gonna get a wee bit nervous.

i do think that tree flying will require skills. Just to take back the tribes2 comparison on the previous post, i dont remember tribes2 having forests. maybe a tree once in a while but no dense forest. In the screenies that we have seen, there will be dense forest and tree dodging will be much harder.

For that i think it will require skill, altho the general physics of the FM doesnt wich is bad, imho, but still trees is a good start.

The main thin I would do in forests is sniping up in the brush an takin a buggy down the long corridors.......weeeeeeeee
