Hey gang, I'm a new player in the Reserves and I decided to specialize as a medic because I've always kind of liked being a support guy.
I usually end up gravitating towards the action and looking for guys who need help, whether they're calling for it or not. I've gotten a few compliments for doing this during base attacks, etc. However it seems to me that nobody is really expecting a dedicated medic to be hanging around waiting to heal and revive...most people I see go down just click respawn and I've seen plenty of wounded soldiers run right by me even when I have my medic gear deployed. It seems to take some peope by surprise when I start tending to them. I've seen some guys who are advanced medics announce it on /local when they're participating in an attack, but those guys then draw their weapons and charge ahead just like everyone else. Kind of defeats the purpose of being a medic IMO. Does anybody have any wisdom for me? I'm particularly interested in hearing what people's expectations regarding medics are and suggestions about how I might be of even more help in the field. |

Well, being a reserve player myself, I can tell you that what I figure is the main reason for people to respawn instead of waiting to be resurrected... They want to get back into the fight with a full load of ammo etc. General healing though could be expected, although medpacks, which everybody can use, and the regeneration implant, sometimes make the medics not as necessary as in other games where health is harder to recover. My suggestion, if you want to go for support, is to go for engineering. Vehicles at the front can't repair by themselves, and MAX suits also can't repair their armor, so you'll see them coming to you to be repaired (MAX and vehicles sometimes too). I've chosen basic engineering just for that purpouse...
My 2 cents on the issue. |

best way to utilize a support player is to join a decent(sized) organized outfit.
if your team knows what you can do, they will wait and let you revive/repair etc. what empire/server do u play? another support activity would be the driving of AMS's. establishing spawnpoints at a base assault is crucial. you could simply drive an AMS there,--deploy it---go fight a bit---get a new ams rinse and repeat |

Hi mate. I'm a combat medic too. Basically, you're needed the most when everyone is in a tight solution. Eg, making a last stand in a plant, lab, tower etc. Believe me, once the shooting starts, people will be screaming for your assistance. If you want a tip, get the infiltrator suit. You'll be safer then, 'cos everyone seems to take pot shots at medics (what happened to the Geneva Convention and the unofficial not shooting at medics rule??). So basically, you heal people while you're cloaked.

Most of the time people don't realize there's an advanced medic around since most are certed for combat or vehicles.
I suggest you create a local chat macro announcing that you're an adv med and have people call out for a medic if needed. If it's not an intense fight or there's no close spawn (AMS), you'll see them hang on longer for a rez. |

Quick question:
Does anyone have a list of the rewards various commendations get you? I realize most of them are simply there to get you a coloful patch on your shoulder but certain ones grant you bonuses such as use of the Vulture. Does anyone have a list of what merits grant rewards like that?

I heard rumors of the HSR being available without the sniping cert from the two year annual service.
