New Comp

So finally after waiting since the 8th grade (Yes, that's a long time, stfu), I got a new computer in my room, as an early christmas present. \o/ Yay!

AMD Athlon 64 Processor, 3800+ And Enhanced Virus Protection Blah blah blah
1gig of PC2-4200 DDR2 SDRAM
250GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA HD
NVIDIA GeForce 6150LE Graphics 256mb Shared memory
Capable for Vista, which I'm gonna get for Halo 2 \o/

Only 500 $ Too, 800 with a 15" Flatscreen monitor.

I plan to get another gig of RAM after christmas.

Not bad for that much, and for my first comp, eh?

It runs my games better then my old gaming comp in the living room, and looks better, so I'm happy, put this in with the fact that it's in my room, and I have 250GB of space......Pr0n time!

I'm dirt poor and I'm actually considering to go see one of those big companies and asking for financing... 60$ dollars a month for a new comp

Probably the single worst thing you can do Giovanni. If you give me a budget I can see what I can build for you. I've build some really good PCs for under $500.

Well I'm broke at the moment... my mp3 died on me... I can't live without my music so 421$ went into that... I got my new matress and TV coming in soon... driver's lisence to finish up.

Fucking crap ass budget I need to set. I get paid on wednesday at midnight at wich point I'll pay back my credit card... and fill it right back up again

The computer is almost here thought a couple of month and I should have it... I just need to get by the holidays without losing any more money.

No christmas for me! Woo!

By the way. If you have MSN I'll gladly add you and we can talk a bit about comps.

Computers as a whole have really come down in price. You can easily make a nice budget gaming rig.

Yea, My other gaming computer, the one I'v been using since before I came to this site, was around 1,300$ when my dad built it.

It's 6 years out of date. Except for the video Card. For 1,300 back then, he made a computer that you can now get for 400$.

My new one was I think 550$ for the tower, and it's about twiceas faster, maybe faster, then the old one.

So yea, prices really have fallen

So, what you're probably looking for then is the following;

Mobo
Processor
Video Card

Is that about it?

Yeah that's about it haha. I already have an hard-drive I'll eventually go with a bigger one but for now this one will do.

I'm trying to get the most bang for the buck... right now mine's worth crap and I never played Company of heroes or even BF2.

Re: New Comp

Gigabyte GA-K8N-SLI for $75

Or, if you don't want to go SLI (to me it's gimmicky, but to each their own)

ECS KN1 for $60

Amx A64 3700+ (2.2Ghz) for $89

Sapphire Radeon X1800GTO for $145 after $15MIR

Grand total = $324 w/o tax or shipping included. With the other mobo it's around $304, so you could possibly put the other $20 into getting a little better video card. The only thing that would bother me a bit is if you don't have a good power supply (+450w). Also, how much RAM do you have? That makes a difference in games also. If you only have 512Mb then it's no wonder you're running into issues.

I currently have an AMD running at 1.7 ghz, 1 gig ram, 70 gig HD and a radeon 9250... it's not superb but it does the job for some games.

Re: New Comp

The Athlon 64s are worth it, you can also put a X2 (939 Socket) dual core in it. Although it remains to be seen if they are going to make any new dual core CPUs in 939.

Re: New Comp

You should be fine then with the setup I linked you. And AMD already said that the AM2 is going to be the next standard for them. I could try to find an AM2 mobo w/ proc, but it may run you a bit more as you'll have to get DDR2 ram.

Here's what I found for you;

ECS nForce4M-A for $56
AMD A64 3200+ 2.0Ghz AM2 Processor (retail) for $81
G.Skill 1Gb (2.512Mb) DDR2 800 for $110
Sapphire Radeon X1800 GTO for $145 after $15 MIR

Total would be $406 not including the MIR. This is also before taxes and shipping.
