The End Draws Near

Comrades, what we have feared has become reality. Our nightmares are now fact. We earlier received word that the Vanu Sovereignty's scientists have concluded that the tremors and meteorites which have struck Auraxis are caused by Auraxis itself. They also report that they have not found a way to end these events although they shall continue trying. They now warn that if they do not find a way to prevent these events, there may well not be anything left to save. Here is the report:

We have long known that there is a "Core" of some sort beneath the caves in the center of Auraxis...an AT artifact of enormous power that organizes and catalogues our patterns like a computer, but with some level of sentience. Previous explorations have proved fruitless, but we see nothing but the forthcoming destruction of the planet if this escalation of damage continues. Therefore, all efforts are being bent to finding the "Core". Perhaps there will be a way to communicate with it and a way to cease these endless barrages and quakes before there is nothing left to save.

Half an hour later we intercepted a message from the Terran Republic Overwatch. Disturbingly it was sent without encryption. Within it they have announced that these events have been caused by our intrusion into the caverns, and perhaps has initiated some kind of failsafe mechanism. They have sent a message back to the Republic, should they still be listening. Here is the message:

We've confirmed that it was most likely human actions within the caverns that triggered the planetary changes we're experiencing now. We've backtracked through our records and we now believe that the pulses and surges moving through Auraxis began at approximately the same time as the first human forays into the caves, only the effects were too subtle to notice immediately. We have done what we feared and seem to have triggered a planetary failsafe mechanism. A microburst packet has been sent to the Republic telling them of this chain of events, despite the fact that we have no means of determining if they are receiving the message. Perhaps now that they see the end coming, the rebel factions can now see what their actions have caused. In the meantime, continue teaching them about those errors by punishing them on the battlefield. We are not dead yet!

Finally, an hour ago we received word that the New Conglomerate Command has issued orders for an all out assault on the Terran Republic. Specifically the relay stations which have the ability to communicate through the wormhole to request aid. Their message was that of survival above all else:

We've become rusty in how to survive, spoiled by the eternal revivals we've received here on Auraxis. But if Auraxis is coming to an end...then so may be our supposed immortality. Without a planet to live upon, we do not have the equipment needed for long-term space habitations. We must survive and to survive, we must be able to communicate through the wormhole. Only the TR have that communication apparatus, so we *must* destroy them quickly. Bend every effort toward that and refuse to fail!

PSU has no other choice but to intitiate our final alert stage, Delta. We shall have volunteers manning our communications equipment to attempt to bring you any news that we can. All other personnel are being evacuated to secure bunkers to await whatever fate the Vanu have provided for us. We wish all of Auraxis good luck. Should these be our final hours, then let them be our finest!
