The patch
can break your saves. I have saves from before the first patch that work just dandy. I'd also say it looks fine with everything cranked. You do need a pretty kick ass box in order to run it well on full settings though. I'd also submit if you're playing an RTS for it's graphics you might want to examine your genre choice

Guys, it's C&C. Cheesey cutscenes and a plot that isn't much deeper than "Nod are the creepy bad guys and GDI is the futuristic U.N." is pretty much what the games have been about from the
get go.
The game doesn't try to do anything revolutionary to the series or the genre as a whole, which is pretty much what everyone wanted. They tried that last time and we got the abortion known as C&C Generals. The entire game is pretty much just fan service for old school C&C players which is pretty shocking after what Generals turned out to be.
If you get around to finishing all three campaigns you'll notice something nice about the plots that all the other C&Cs lacked.
One thing that really suprised me is that this is the first RTS in ages that has really impressed me as far as quick play multiplayer games goes. It's the most fun I've had since the old Starcraft days (although I think Starcraft is still better as far as technical execution and balance goes but then, well, yeah
it's Starcraft).
