Re: Anything I should know before buying?

I can't speak for how things are right at this moment, but back in April, before the reserves ended, population was always decent enough to support 1 or 2 major battles per empire. By major, I mean your computer would choke on the FPS :P. 100-200 people per battle is quite large.

I still expect there to be huge battles like that, especially during primetime, but probably only 1 per empire. But, like I said, I havn't played since April so I couldn't tell you if it's declined considerably since then. My instinct tells me no, and if I had the money I'd certainly buy the game.

I've heard from the official forum the population now is still good but I think the player numbers will drop a bit after summer holiday.

PS is three side conflict... isnt PS reduced to two side conflict because of the low population last months? Isnt one of empires deserted now?

Populations fluctuate quite a bit depending on the time of day and the flow of battle.

Pop might have lowered after reserves ended but theres still plenty of action IMO. And if reserves does come back (fingers crossed) it'll be even better.

Re: Anything I should know before buying?

Agreed B357. The pops are a tad lower than reserves, but still quite playable (and enjoyable) as it was pre-April.

Hvez,
PS will never be just a "two" sided conflic as long as there's 3 empires. People will always want to play the underdog, or have their specific preference of an empire. Take me, for example, I'm a diehard VS guy. I'll play them over any of the other two empires even if all they had were threshers and beamers. It would be utterly impossible to win, but it would still be a challenge i'd be up to!

And I don't see the Devs eliminating one of the empires. For one there'd be too much of a collective outcry for the empire being wiped out, and second, it would ruin the complexity of the battles and strategy. However, it would finally introduce some ability to possible "win" if they did have only 2 empires. I dunno, I really like the 3 empire concept, but soemthing should be done to try and at least make continents winnable. Something in this game needs to be winnable again...and not just because of the zerg.

1) The dev team made it clear that they are working on bringing the reserves program back in one form or another.

2) High population is required why? I like focused battles over massive battles. Maybe you have a different preference.

Good to hear the above. I'm wondering about the Euro server population too as I get +100ms ping on the US servers which isn't good. Guess I'll find out soon enough...
