I'm new too... thought I'd give it a try even though it's an old game. Any tips on empire to be? ^^

Depends on what you like;

VS is mobility
TR is rapid fire
NC is hard hit

Think of them as their 'staple' weapons.

The VS is a hover tank... able to get around and hit at range.
The TR are machine guns... spraying enough bullets to kill whatever they need to
The NC are shotguns... slow firing, hard hitting

That summary of the empires is really good. I remember those from back in reserves, now I'm back! Any new stuff? I've read about flame throwers and engineering stuff, sounds HOT
