Loadouts

1. Outfit loadouts. Outfits get a certain number of slots to create loadouts for weapons and vehicles. These can be viewed and used by any outfit member at the equipment terminal. There will be a description area and cert requirements. Equipment you can't use/certs you don't have are highlighted in red.

2. Official loadouts. Community vetted loadouts. Descriptions and cert requirements are the same as outfit certs. Approved by a panel of the more knowledgeable community members.

Goal is to help give new players direction on what are good builds/loadouts(at least better than the loltastic basic loadouts provided), as well as allow outfits to more easily distribute equipment requirements if they desire such things.

Loadout linking might be a nice idea too.

Handy, but a website could do the job just fine.

People on VS /c today found a TR Cycler user with a backpack full of shotgun ammo...

Re: Loadouts

I do think we need more load out slots. I like to be able to have a Cycler + Striker Cycler + Deci Sweeper + Striker Sweeper + Deci .......... you get the idea. With just MA and AV thats 6 load outs if you like using the punisher too. That doesn't include stuff like Sweeper + Cycler *Which is something I carry sometimes but I need to make a non saved loadout*

Just need more.

More are most definitely needed. 10 is stupidly small. How many loadouts could be stored in a single mb?

Hell, steam just gave us a gb for sharing pictures...

I've never needed more than 6 at a time but I don't see why they couldn't allow more.

I remember hearing the reason they never increased the number of loadouts was because that data was stored on the server side and thats all the space they had. I'm thinking in 2011, we should be able to get more slots, so I love this idea.

I also like the spirit of the idea. I know I kind of get focused on what parts of the game affect me directly, but something like this is immensely helpful to new players just learning the ropes. Lets face it, a game like this has a decent learning curve. I know it took me awhile to learn how not to die so much....something I appearantly need to relearn now.

Re: Loadouts

Something I'm not sure about is how this could allow Outfits to decide how the game works instead of the game itself. What if we were not to assume how the next sequel works. There's more to this discussion, I except, and that information about the Planetside sequel isn't revealed yet.

Personally, I'd rather there be a whole game system focusing on identifying player's decided role in the game. Outfits would column groups of players and condition them, manipulate them and ultimately improve the Auraxis-wide battle for your Empire. Improving their morale. Outfits could use a voice comm.
Voice comms can be so awesome with the bleep noises. Different bleeps mean different frequencies, etc. . Player-hackers could infiltrate their communications!!! OMG

Not going to happen when private voice servers are reasonably cheap; why would you use the in game voice chat if there could be spies?

i'd hate to see this idea in PS, to many games drip feed stuff to players cookie cutter talent builds in wow and so on. leave people in PS to make there own choices on load outs and let them discover the game and what works for them.

Re: Loadouts

This isn't wow, where you are held by the hand and slowly build up to more and more difficult concepts. In ps you get thrown to the wolves day one, with no direction, against a bunch of people who've been playing the game a lot longer than you and know all the tricks.

Letting people discover the game on their own is a really good way of getting them to ditch immediately.

wolves please, its an FPS at the very basic level thats all it is being able to point and click means you can play the game. i'd much rather see outfits putting effort into training newbies instead of giving them a lazy mans option and just saying there the load out copy em.

No, not wolves. Wolves is half the reason Planetside is empty. Newbies are going find themselves getting owned easily enough with no certs and an optimal loadout, without the additional troubles of trying to kill someone with a suppressor using AP ammo.

Do we actually want to keep the old Loadout/backbag/inventory system? Giant ammo boxes lying on the ground, that 'contain' only 50 rounds of 9mm bullets. A backbag full of 100 x 150mm Tankshells and whatnot. Could there be a better way?

Re: Loadouts

the wolves arent the reason its the fact its an 8 y.o fps full of hackers the reason its empty.

and people should have a proper tutorail before they ever hit the game so they can make some informed weapon choices. i'd much rather see a proper americas army style training in planetside as well as better ways for outfits to recruit new players so they can help them out. then just giving them cookie cutter loadouts and no help.
