What kind of bonus XP are we talking here? I know people have been mentioning bonus XP that can be bought their a microtransaction. Then in EverCrack there is rest XP that goes up the longer your offline. Did I miss something here?

Right now I could go either way on this. I think it would be great for players who do not play as much, but players who do play 8 hours a day could abuse this. Only thing is those players who play so much are a minority and I doubt will effect game play that much.

I'm against anything that could possibly give you an advantage in game, XP bonuses/boosters included. I'm sure it's a great way to make money for SOE, but at the cost of giving an advantage to players who buy and alienating those who don't, I think the idea would be frowned upon.
If it's a skill based game and you get XP off of kills, theoretically, the best players should be leveling up the fastest. I don't know, I don't think it'll have any real bearing on gameplay but it could possibly piss a large group of people off. |

Being able to buy a set amount of XP I'd be opposed to, but an XP rate upgrade I'd be okay with, strangely enough.
Level won't give you a huge power boost in this game, and it sounds like skills rather than battle rank will determine the important stuff, so I wouldn't mind people gaining BR a bit faster if it meant the game getting more funding. |

This will probably happen either way. Its better then having someone purchase a weapon or a vehicle.
The thing that matters is skill. You can buy this x2 bonus for XP and still get around the same amount because you are bad. FYI dont judge me if im the one to by the xp boost when the game comes out... lol I would love to be the first in acouple things |

But why should really good players be able to get double the xp? I already know there's going to be BR20 people on the second day; some people just feel the need to play that much. But I think that any sort of xp boost is unfair to gameplay and to the lower level population.

Theres time based cert training. Its unfair that people last year will FOREVER be ahead of newbs in training until the game goes into maintenance mode years from now and skills stop being added. Hell, one could just as easily shout 'Keep the leveling/training to evercrack! This is an fps, we don't need levels'. Which would guarantee complete fairness. You, however, take issue with just one type of unfairness, and use as your reasoning that its unfair to newbs(a video game version of think of the children?), which is untrue. Some newbs will use it. Some vets will too. I think you just don't want someone with more money getting ahead of you. Which is a valid opinion. Use that. I disagree with it to an extent, since extra money is little different than extra time. Last edited by CutterJohn; 2011-07-20 at 11:31 AM. |

No for xp boost.
I think the skills progressing over time directly counters the idea of purchasable xp. They don't want people advancing asap, and neither do I honestly. When the game is 2-3 years old and rich newbies join up I don't want them to be max lvl with no actual experience playing the game. Plus, they've said they don't want to sell anything in their shop that increases power, just cosmetic. I'm pretty sure another lvl gives access to more power. |

Having money isn't a crime. If SOE sells XP and/or an XP-boost.....so be it. They do plan (need) to make money off this game.
We all should be against SOE selling weapons. I don't see it as a problem with XP. Some poseur with money to spend gets some BR or certs sooner than they should ?.....just means easier BEP-boosting kills when you essentially have a noob or quasi-noob playing a toon they can't handle or fully utilize. I like the idea of getting BR20 BEP for a KILL - even thought the guy might only be BR4 in ability. I don't think selling XP does much - except perhaps make SOE willing to put out PS3 someday. To keep this franchise alive (and hopefully GROWING), we need SOE to make some money off this game. It would be funny to require anyone who "buys" XP or XP-boost has a mandatory DONALD TRUMP hairdoo on their toon....or at least some buff that would help a sniper "choose" too take a "paying customer" out due to financial envy. When sniping - all things being equal - I tend to think I'll shoot the guy with the custom armor & epiletts & buffs & whatnot.....or, snipe the tank driver that got out of the Vanguard with the Hello Kitty cammo-paint scheme. I'm an average player at best. I enjoy killing guys BETTER than me more than a noob. And sorry, I LOVE killing a BR20+ who is AFK. I takes 'em any way I can get 'em. On a serious note - let people pay for a little help getting XP. Let them pay for "cosmetic" customizations to uniforms, vehicles,....more money for SOE = more money for tech-support, upgrades, and maybe PS3.... .........since the new screen shots came out - I'm even more geeked to check out PS2. Hopefully, they (SOE & the players) identify and fix any programming or strategy flaws during PS2 Beta. Last edited by Chaff; 2011-07-20 at 12:39 PM. |
