I always feel aesthetic discomfort when I look at any agile armor skin in PlanetSide. Mostly because it has an open jaw and cheeks. And I'm not even mentioning TR infiltrator or their helmet with goggles.
I really like how the non-rexo TR models look HERE. So what I propose is less "individualism" in soldier's equipment. What I mean is: TRepublic is like a Big Nameless Empire, so It's obvious that its soldiers should have "no face", so to speak. VS in fact go within the same boat - the only difference between them and TR in the case is that VS "equalize" voluntarily. NC is probably the only empire that supports being an individual, because they're supposed to be the lesser of 3 evils (read: good guys). But still... Why would you want good guys to look like douchebags? To sum it up: TR designs are cool. TR MAX, however needs it's face protected, due to it being rather... deathly misconception. VS rexo helmet looks cool in PS1, so I think it's worth to be polished and added to the new game. VS and NC agiles need to protect their faces too. The first can look like an alien head and the second can look more like the real jet helmet with oxy pipe or something. Also if you want to keep the classic NC rexo helmet design, with glass and stuff, why won't you try some (yeah, once again) Republic Commando reference. At least it looks fearsome... TL;DR Face Plating. Steel plating on faces. Or at least anything to make faces hidden. Last edited by NewSith; 2011-08-04 at 12:06 PM. |

I kinda like where you're going with the concept designs for each empire, but so far the PS2 art has blown me away and I'm really looking forward to seeing the NC and VS headgear.
I also have a feeling that will all the customized armor, we won't see any faceless robot armies marching around. That's the nature of MMOs though -- if you play something for months or even years consistently, you're going to want to evolve your character and set yourself apart from your friends. -HC13 |

Hopefully it will be way less generic then last time around...
What if they had different armors with different camo for various battle environment settings? That's the simplest yet most effective approach I can think of to instill diversity into wardrobes for more shock an awe bang for buck. |

I like where this idea is going. The thing I want to point out is as the devs have said, there will be ways to become attached to your character. Still if the renders of the max suits are any thing to go by thing game will blow my mind.

I'm counting on armor customization, and not just color schemes, but varieties of armor customization that only aesthetic purposes. Most specifically, I at least want the option of a balaclava, half mask, goggles, or a full mask (+goggles.) Individualism is nice. Covering my guy's mug is nicer I don't mind looking like #2688 if it means I get a bad-ass gas mask and goggles even while wearing light armor! One of the screenshots shows a (supposedly) light armor with a balaclava/gas mask on with no goggles, so I imagine these items are going to be in game.

I hope that there's no exposed flesh on any MAX user.
Let me strap on this sweet suit of powered armor so I can wield this massive weapon and wade through swaths of bodies. Also, I want to leave some of my more vulnerable bits in the wind. It make be cool for Sontarans and Space Marines to do on occasion to prove you're an ultra-badass but, in general, you'll want to keep your plasma/bullet/explosion/etc.-vulnerable faceparts protected.
