Photo evidence of unlocks and customization- Backpacks!

It's a lot of fun to see glimpses of the massive level of customization we'll have. In this new (beautifully-rendered) screenshot of the Terran Republic charge, we see that one of the soldiers on the right has a backpack and a satchel on their back. This is differentiated from the soldier with a jump pack, and the other soldiers that clearly have nothing on their back (just the rear armor from their wraparound breastplate).

Is this an unlock to add more storage space? Being a Special Infantry/Combat Demolitions commando, I personally hope it is! More explosives! More power cells for my assault beam rifle!

These are the kind of things I love to find in the photos, and I want more! Higsby! T-Ray! Show us the skill trees! Unlocks!

Combat Engineering, Medium Assault, and Cybernetic Implants. That's what I want!

W00000!

That's a medic pack.

I..... don't see the evidence behind that assumption. There is no marking or cross-symbol that denotes a medic roll, and furthermore, that screenshot is situated directly ABOVE an artistic rendition of a medic, who is conspicuously colored with a lot more white than a normal soldier; the soldier in the screenshot with the backpack does not have any extra white on them.

You speak with a good amount of certainty; I suppose you're referencing some comment Higsby made about the photo or something? Do share.

There are two cross symbols. It's the same as the pack on the generic medic model, but in TR colors.

The cross symbol doesn't stick out but it's there.

It's a tactical "shoot-me-I'm-the-medic" symbol.

It is rather odd that the crosses are black instead of leaving them white. I was wondering about that earlier.

Lol, have to admit I abhor such cliche contrivances, not to mention the fact that it doesn't make any sound tactical sense to have the medic stick out so much from the others as a sore thumb.

Still not sold on the other pack or the bold proclamation that it has to be a jetpack...

Its not a contrivance. Its an offshoot of the Geneva Convention. Article 24 states that its illegal to shoot medics/nurses/doctors/chaplains/etc in the active pursuit of their duties. Ofc, its only protection if the enemy follows the geneva convention, and if the medic doesn't shoot back.

Granted, theres no real reason to have it in a take no prisoners video game, but there is a reason the cliche exists.

They said there are jetpacks in the game, and it has two giant nozzles.. What else could it possibly be?

It could be some sort of energy pack, maybe a sort of personal shield?

It does look different than the jetpacks in the teaser video, but that could be the effect of development time or the fact that the guys in the teaser all seemed to be wearing spawn armor.

It has a cross on it. It's a medic backpack of some sort.

It is definitly a medic class...look at the TR female medic art
And I'm fairly certain those are jetbacks...since I have seen only "agile" armor with them...and they are arodynamic with what looks like 2 boosters

Looks exactly the same as the ones in the teaser to me. That is also definitely a jetpack, the wings, and jet engines are a clear indicator.

I think that's a great way to make medics recognizable, but not stand out too much
