Dome Blasters?

I was reading through the backstory and they listed off some weapons that we probably all know. MCGs, Cyclers, Repeater Pistols, Bolt Drivers. But then I read some thing new, dome blasters. Any one know what new weapon this is? Would the devs care to shed some light on it?

I can't even begin to guess on this one.

I thought some sort of artillery, but they've said they don't want indirect fire and the weapon seems man-portable (or at least able to transport in a galaxy along with a ton of other crap). I would have also thought some sort of orbital strike, but again, it was in the galaxy.

Either way I hope there are literal city ruins to fight in this time instead of just wilderness and fortified bases, regardless if the dome blasters are still "used". Their aftermath is good enough for me.

Dome blaster is an urban term for a gun used to shoot someone in the head. "DeShawn, use the dome blaster on this guy, I ain't trying to get brains on my new Nikes"

That's what I was thinking too... some sort of Weapon of Mass Destruction type deal.

That wouldn't make sense though, given they put several of them onto Galaxies and took them on a defense mission. I still think they're some sort of AV weapon. The "Dome" might be a reference to NC MAX shielding (or some sort of field deployable), and if they aren't AV then those guys are fucked if the NC brought armor, they don't have anything to deal with it.

Or maybe it has something to do with that little triangle on the left side of shield wall from that recent screenshot of the 2 TR and the little guy (or sasquatch) in the distance?

I liked the old PS1 ideas the SOE wrote about where capitol domes would require an ANT or Flail to bring down the force field. Maybe something similar in PS2. Don't know.

All kidding aside, my guess is that a dome blaster is the Orbital Strike Station

Well we all ready know outfits can deploy towers, that's a pretty big object/game mechanic. Why not spend some kind of points on a nuke?
