AMD 7000 series GPU and XDR2 instead of GDDR5

Fixed link:

AMD 7000 series GPU article at Tom's Hardware.

If I were wanting a video card near Christmas, I would take a good look at these, targeted release date December 6th.

Your link doesnt work.

190Watt for the highest spec card is really damn nice.

I've heard the Rambus horror stories. Here's to hoping the success of the 7 series isn't a detriment to the industry.

But the 7900's wont be around til 2012, and those are the real cards.

I don't know if we will see anything this year to be honest. Last I knew the TSMC 28nm was going really badly. With that I read even AMD pushed their cards back to 2012. I hope something is released, but until I see more leaks/rumors I won't believe it.

Not to mention, considering what AMD claimed BD would be and what it actually ended up being, I wouldn't expect the 7000s to be as good as they might look like they'll be prior to release.

Well...the original p4-Rambus thing isn't so much of an issue on a graphics card because video memory isn't a removable, replaceable thing.
RDRAM was quite decent at the time, it was just a pain because you had to have twinned pairs and it did get outclassed rather quickly...but you do, basically, need pairs today anyway...

At any rate, it XDR looks pretty sweet, we'll see how it goes.

I'm talking about the anti-competitive practices and such. There was plenty of people bringing it up in the comments section of the article Traak linked. Rambus seem to be infamous for being slimy as hell.

Yes they are. Still a big debate if the XDR2 is really on there or just a massive pile of crap. There was rumors the GT200 aka GTX 280 was going to sport eDRAM for free AA. That never came about.
