Just wanted to make an observation and, hopefully, provoke some discussion.
There's almost 500 votes in that poll, and I think it's pretty awesome that the interest in each faction is spread very evenly. Of course we're biased and it may work differently for people who will see PS2 for the first time, plus there's a lot more information about the TR and NC than the VS, but still... I just think it's an amazing feat by the current PS2 team, as well as the original PS1 team. To create 3 very different factions and give each enough appeal to spread out the interest as evenly as this. Let's hope the current results translate into the actual game. |

I blame the current 2% TR bias because of the current week probably of released info.

I used to be VS, stuck through the initial year where just about everything they used was common pool because their weaponry was just crap overall (except for the lancer, most people just couldn't get used to how it handled at the time.)
Some time down the road, I went TR. Dunno why. Think it was my brothers fault. Also, I really liked the feel and sound of the Cycler, what can I say? TR main now, VS secondary. Never did get comfortable with the NC. |

Still amazes me how people are so loyal to or identify with an arbitrary team in a video game. Confuses me almost as much as the near religious devotion to sports teams that they have no personal connection to at all.
I primarily played the purple team because I preferred that set of weapons, though the blue team was a close second. Never was much of a fan of the red teams weapons. Last edited by CutterJohn; 2011-11-06 at 02:44 AM. |

@CutterJohn this is also one of the cool things about PlanetSide - the way it creates faction loyalty and hate for the two others. I think it runs even deeper than Horde/Alliance in WoW. |

I find it fun that it is almost arbitrary which team you join, unlike sports teams where it usually ends up being whichever team was in the area you lived, or the area you move to.
It makes it that much more fun to play up the rivalry to ridiculous levels. |

Thats because in PS the whole game is PvP and your constantly fighting the other 2 factions, while WoW is mainly a PvE game and the other faction is just there. When someone is always trying to kill you, you tend to not like them very much

Maybe they'd let me purchase a '4th empire' account. I'll pay extra for that! |

For the Dev's reading this page, I'll repeat: Do not allow more than one Empire per server! Thanks!

Why, because they hammed it and had no strong measures for promoting short term team balance through incentives and lockouts?
At any rate, you fail to understand the ramifications of the game being F2P. Last edited by CutterJohn; 2011-11-06 at 10:58 AM. |
