The Sounds of Combat: Empire-specific?

With no looting and no jacking, I am guessing, from what one of the devs said, that I will always be able to tell who is where by what sounds their weapons make.

Just like the different MAX units let us know what empire the player was from, without having to see it, by having the various sounds of the various vehicles and weapons etc. different, it will greatly augment gameplay if I can just listen and know it is, without a doubt, a certain empire by the sounds.

So I am wondering, what sounds WILL be common between empires?

Could we make the spawn sounds different, too? All the individualistic aural cues add up to make an environment that rewards those attuned to their senses, not just sight and billboards floating over heads and vehicles.

So, are all vehicles, weapons, and whatever else, empire-specific in their sounds?

I'm guessing that only empire specific weapons/vehicles will have their own sounds. A sweeper will be a sweeper now matter who shoots it. Unless VS get some sort of special plasma buckshot.

The different movement sounds for MAXes is a nice idea. Especially considering the various levels of technological sophistication between the VS, TR and NC MAXes.

Other than that it should only be empire-specific weapons and vehicles. And that will be more than fine.

I have always loved to fire JH or Lasher at around the 10th minute of an eventless hack. You know, everyone is fallen asleep, lazy chat on TS, some are looking at the map... then you come and PEW-PEW-PEW...

There you a have a squad on full alert scanning to all directions!

Every time I hear another empire's weapon being fired I jump and look all over the place!

Only because dying means that we get to be respawned by the mighty Vanu once again.

TR make pathetic little whimpers.

I'm pretty sure the just NC fart when they die. Maybe that's just their bowels being evacuated. It's hard to say for sure, since the living ones already smell like shit.
