What kind of weather do you think we will see... from AGN last night we saw how epic the day/night cycle is, how do you think it will be with weather mixed in to it?
Just think, no moon out, pouring rain, cant see 15 feet in front of you, all you can see the the enemy tracers flying at you. PS1 made some memorable battles, i cant wait to see what PS2 can do. |

To be fair, Morto was a bit vague in his post about weather effects. Anywho, would be really great to have another layer of dynamics with weather effects. Just not sure it is possible due to graphical limitations. Is Forgelight that awesome!?

We had several Weather threats already, but i guess thats the way its going to go from now on: we discuss a topic, it dies down, sometime later some guy comes along and opens the same topic again in a different threat, and all arguments and opinions get repeated, till it dies down again and it then starts again, and again and again and again.
But yea, night and weather. If you pay attention to the bit vid from the AGN, you see that clouds pretty much block the sun to some degree. Simple math from there on: Night with no full moon + Rain clouds + rain = its DARK! :> |

Would be awesome if Reavers/Mossies/Galaxies experience turbulence due to wind and rain. Ground vehicles may slide and slip if they are going too fast.
Other than that I don't really want rain to effect gameplay, perhaps some limited visibility for infantry, but the difference has to be really small or else it would be annoying.

Anyway, more types of weather would be great. I'd love to see snowstorms and duststorms.

Way to troll poet.
I desperately want dynamic weather, the pure ambiance would be so worth it. But since the dense clouds make it dark and the rain pounding the ground/equipment is loud, exploiting those things are a tacticians dream. I want anything to mix up the tactics and deployment of forces. Dynamic weather only adds layers of tactics and immersion. I want it! |

But once again, one of the biggest problems with actually having a lot of snow or heavy rain is the performance. If it's supposed to be a "variable" that changes the entire fight, that means no one is allowed to turn those effects off. Not being able to turn those effects off will not allow 4-5 old low-end machines be able to participate in those fights.
I've yet to see any game of anywhere near this scale that could've done it so that it made any difference without taking a severe performance loss. I'm all up for different weather conditions that effect gameplay in various way, but we have to be REALLY careful when thinking about having particles (snowflakes, raindrops) do that.
