I don't want to see ANYTHING in stealth! DUH, it's STEALTH!
Sorry- couldn't be avoided. But, in seriousness, I like the implied system of "the more powerful your weapon, the less-concealing your stealth system is." Therefore, if you wanted to be an Infiltrator Sniper, your cloak would probably only be useful if you were standing completely still (and maybe you would even need to hide near visual camouflage as well) and if you wanted to play a Sabotage Infiltrator with just a Beamer and a bunch of tech-devices, your cloak might allow you to walk (or even run) and be hard to see. That sounds balanced and awesome. ~Zachariah |

I think there should be a distinction between stealth and cloaking, for sure.
Stealth would be invisibility from showing up on people's radar. This should be available to a broader spectrum than simply super sneaky types. Certainly light classes, but also some possibilities into medium and heavier folks. This applies to vehicles too...you might be able to pull a stealth tank or light aircraft but not one that can cloak. So this is comprised of systems that prevent passive and active detection by non-sight mechanics. Sound suppression of weapons and movement, radar deflection. Sort of like in battlefield, how when you shoot a gun it puts you on the radar but if the gun is suppressed you don't. Of course, unlike battlefield, you won't be able to suppress M60-type heavy machine guns 0_o. This would be the kind of special/behind lines ops type specialty for kind of general infantry classes. Then you have the light-weapon only cloaker types as separate class to themselves.

I may be biased since I enjoy cloaking, however quite frankly now in planetside it is tough for someone still learning the art of infiltration. By now the people still playing are well familiar with the limitations of cloakers and most people have darklight. Also the slight screen gamma tweaks that I have read about make it even easier for cloakers to be targets. I wouldn't mind something that as an infiltrator goes deeper in their tree they become even more difficult to see to at least counteract whatever the darklight equivalent would be of someone else leveling up. I also like the larger the weapon the harder it is to see, almost makes sense due to more surface area. Perhaps more ways to improve skills with pistols and knives. I also do hope that they don't make it impossible for someone in an infiltrator suit to heal or at least use boomers since the medic and engy are also classes. That was one of the big things about being an infiltrator were those skills the only other really valuable is hacking. If all cloakers can do in PS2 is hack that would make me sad since I am not the sniping type I like the sneaking around. Nothing quite like the holy crap moment when someone lands a mossie right at your feet or a buggie actually ramps off of you without noticing you.

Well Stealth in most FPS is not that good and only barely works. Giving you a slight edge to ambush or something. I really liked it though in Planetside where you could actually be completely hidden and sneak into the enemy base an try to sabotage things. I hope that role is preserved as I would rather do that than be a Rogue backstabbing people.

Generally agree with everyone's wishes so far. But the number one thing is a system of cloaking that isn't vulnerable to hacks and BS like gamma manipulation.
Other stuff: * Hard Hitting Melee that isn't any noisier than my old VS knife in secondary mode, no noise would be better .. a garrote would be awesome. * Not having to have an implant to avoid interlink and vehicle radar, although personal Audio Amp and Darklight implants, as well as engineering deployables as a means of detecting cloaking is well balanced. * Wraith at release, and other cloaked vehicles in the future. * Explosives, like boomers. * Lots of Hacking stuff and something cool to replace vehicle hacking. * A means to self heal in the field (I'd like that for all infantry, but with a medic class might not be very likely) |

More gadgets: I do remember a wall mounted camera being mentioned a long while ago, but if they're gonna go with classes and class specific items this would be awesome. In Splinter Cell you could even detonate a camera like that.
I'd also like to see more "Recon" abilities. Intelligence and Counter Intel could be a great role for us Better stealth in general. I liked the PS1 mechanic of slower speed = more stealth, but it doesn't work over time. Anyone who's played the game longer then a year doesn't usually need dark light. We need a way to counter the trained eye. |

I believe this was confirmed as happening.
Personally I want to be able to stick to walls, carry explosives, and be invisible. My default build was an AMP, box of ammo, ACE, Med stick, and an Adv hack REK. With enough time I could pretty much get anywhere provided there was at least one error made by the CE. Would like to see more roles for cloakers as, sadly, cloakers are viewed as being more annoying any anything else and I'm kind of forced to agree. Sure blowing a gen here and there is useful but the time it takes to get that setup is a long one and the time to fix it is short. More recently I'm finding that the best use for a cloaker is to surge a router pad into the basement. Hopefully with the revisions and the addition of sniping they could turn out to be quite fun. (Though I'll miss my Rexo dual bolt driver load out)
