Being apart of Delta Triad this is an Idea we've always loved and supported because we really enjoy the competitive side of almost any game, but more so Planetside. My Question is pointed to Highby/Trammel.. (btw Trammel you're the man, you to Highby but Trammel is VS). Will there be a system in place to have a kind of consistent Tournament scene in-game like Outfit Wars?
I personally loved how Guild Wars used their Tournament system because it was extremely simple and was automated not requiring any kind of Dev help like Outfit wars did. Warcraft 3 has a similiar easy mechanic, but it's an everyday thing. I was thinking more along the once a month type of deal for Planetside. Like Guild Wars you win your matches that were set on this day you'd progress to the next day and so on until there's a final winner. I don't know if any of you know the Guild Wars tournament system they have, but it's fair and fun and after the first day the next day is like a week later etc(whatever they'd decide) and you can have different members not the same each time so you won't NEED the exact people on if they can't make it. This would set on a cont/map/instance that only the groups could get to and I'd like to see 20v20 just to get as much competition as possible for all kinds of outfits. The outfit who wins for the month after they would recieve a bonus ( Nothing too extravagant to be 'fair' ) like a BEP increase for the members of that outfit and the outfit itself of like 10-20% ( use your imagination for the bonuses ). I'm also liking the 'Top tier' system like Guild Wars uses. The top 10% for example of outfits over that 3 month period ( the % and month could all be changed ) are invited to the like 'World Cup' so to speak for a tournament and the winner would be given like certain acknowledgements etc(merits, customizations, plenty of cool things could be given). I'd love to see that best of the best kind of idea. If this has been posted I'm sorry :P but I'd really hope to see this in PS2. Delta Triad is extremely excited for PS2 and we have 42 members on board for the game with 10 or so uncomfirmed. We don't post much here either unfortunately, but we are always browsing :P <3 from DT! -Unkn0wnDT/Buzz www.deltatriad.com Last edited by UnknownDT; 2011-12-15 at 10:04 AM. |

Something like this would be awesome. A system allowing outfits to match up agaisn't each other, even same faction outfits. Could just seperate the teams by colors for easier recongition to the already outfit seperate armor (if their cool enough )
Although it shouldn't be a main thing to the game but a great addition. The who point of the game is the main fighting, but having now and then outfit matches not even necessary a tournemet but just a fun thing to do would be great. It could also provide points to an outfit showing their superiority. A extra form of competitiveness would be nice. And espically if theres an outfit in your faction you just want to smack up and down EDIT: The battlefield should be like a Starcraft map. Completly the same on all sides for equalness. It is an arena afterall (if thats the goal) |

I am against this personally. I don't want to see the Sandbox PvP diminished by some epeen unit ladder system. If you want to fight another faction outfit then set up a time and place and have your battle royal.
I have tried to really refrain for going there in the past several months, but this is about the fourth or fifth thread I have seen started about this topic. PS2 isn't CoD or BF3. If you want to fight in a telephone booth in a closed instance, there are places to do that besides PS2. This is a Sandbox PvP FPSMMO. Heavy on the Sandbox and FPS. Now, I would support a stand alone tournament, say three times a year, which allowed a unit to sign up and was conducted over a short period of time and was run in a bracket style match up. Think Basho Style PS2 Tournaments. One Spring Basho, one Fall Basho, and then a Winter Grand Championships to correspond with the end of the year. Winner take all, bring your ammo and hankies, because there is going to be bullets flying and people crying. Make them mean something, and not impact the daily Sandbox PS2 world. Outfits quasi hiding out in instances in order to fight someone outside of the PS2 Sandbox world just doesn't float my boat. |

1. Its Higby and Tramell
2. Higby is also a fan of E-Sports, means something like Outfit wars could be quite possible, after release. While i personally dont want to see any kind of E-sports crap in PS2 (srsly, who gives a damn? Shine on the field rather than on TV), i guess im on the loosing side here. So, as we going to get it anyway: Make sure its big bad battles, a Platoon min to participate, and make it proper tournaments. It should be special, not common. |

I have little interest in small scale, instanced tourneys myself. If I did I wouldn't be playing PS1/2. I fight for the domination of my empire in the persistent world, and will help demonstrate my outfit's prowess by pwning face on the dynamic and choatic battlefields of Auraxis, not in some lab-controlled mini-match.
However, I have no problem with SOE running regular tournaments since I know a lot of people enjoy that sort of thing, but only if its presence doesn't significantly detract from the Auraxis-wide persistent war. If it causes any sort of significant pop drain from the persistent world then I don't want it in the game. |

Pretty sure he was trying to add in a solution. He has probably read the other threads. If you read what he posted. He makes a pretty reasonable attempt at making it not effect the main game. I mean I personally prefer this over the threads being revived. I dunno.
