Question Customizable controlls

Will you be able to switch your keyboard controls? Lets say the right arrow key is set for turn to the right. Can I switch it so it strafes to the right? Or if you don't like using the arrow keys could you switch the movement to A S D W? (or whatever letters you wanted)

I think it's pretty safe to assume you can bind your keys to whatever you want.

they should keep it universal. W,A,S,D to move and mouse to target. other buttons as well but these would be most common.

I don't use WASD. I use ESDF. More keys in quick reach.

yes, some use esdf and some wsad, depending on how much buttons u need for that particular game and how clumsy u are with ur left/right hand . Coz with dsaw you get TAB, shift and ctrl which is easier to reach than the W, Q, A, Z and so on when u use esdf

I'm not sure why you say W, Q, A, and Z are hard to reach when using esdf. Using ESDF your fingers are on the home keys for typing, and myself being a touch typist, reaching for those keys is very natural.

I use w,e,r,d. Always have since doom since I like to strafe while running foward, it was an easier move than having the strafe left/right next to the back key.

Any FPS game released nowadays that doesn't allow people to customize their keyboard controls is begging for failure.

i use sdf for side strafing and back but use the right mouse button almost exclusively for forward movement unless there are alternate fire weapons in the game. ala unreal tournament.

it gives me easy access to more buttons on my left hand and since i'm a touch typist my index finger automatically goes to the f key.

Wow, I must be the only person who uses arrow keys. I'd be strafing to the left instead of walking backwards if I used letters. It's a bit harder to reach quick keys, but I use the number pad for them anyways.

I use arrow keys cause there's more "option" keys around them.
Ex:
- I use left and right for strafing, up and down for up and down (duh)
- I can use Ctrl for jump
- Shift for whatever
- Enter for whatever
- Delete key for whatever
- End key....
- Page Down key...
- Num pad 4 key...
- Num pad 1 key...
- And Num pad 0 key. All for whatever there is.

That's 9 key's, not counting the arrow keys. Now sure, there could be more if you use the letter keys at the other end. But these "option" keys are easier to find. I don't even look when I have to press one.

I used to use arrows keys...until I found that wasd/esdf was easier.

In quake 3, i would use the mouse to aim, the arrow keys to move and strafe. I would use mouse button 1 to shoot, mouse 2 to jump, mouse button 3 to crouch or zoom in.

My optical mouse has 5 buttons on it, so I wont need any other keys. (Except for chating stuff)

e/s/d/f owns with the little bump on the f key. Also especially for key combo binds. Add a 5 button wheel mouse and a disablewindowskey.exe. /me thinks im ready. But i doubt you'll ever be able to costumize it to the level T2 is. Since 3rd party scripts prolly won't be allowed.
