Improvement: Renown (Fame)

This is the 'fame meter'.

It can be influenced by:

Official Forum activity.
Designate Fansite(s) activity (preferable).
Character existence (Veteran's)
In-game battling.
In-game leading (most influential).
Outfit's successes.
PlanetSide Mobile app activity (if such thing may exist).

It can reward you with:

Merit Commendations
a rare Title - Sir, Lord, Cmnder., Cmmdre., Dr.
(nothing like Tikuto the Deathly Doomlord)

This gives you nothing but status. In a primitive world, status means everything. It makes you socially 'packed', socially secure, gives you identity, respect and some degree of dignity. Makes you feel accepted in this brutal Rainbow-gangsterism world of PlanetSide 2.

Simple and affective.

Would a system like that really be needed ?

How about getting reputation from people actually knowing your character than some in-game title ?

e.g.: if you played VS for any length of time, you should know "Batsteg, self-proclaimed emperor of the Vanu". Along with his sad sad gen blowing habits, unfortunately.

Doesn't fit. Besides, we come to know people, famous and infamous, by how they act and play in game. Leave the titles to EQ & co.

I know some of the TRX players by name. Names like "That fucking bastard", and "OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT!". A sniper and max respectively. Mostly though I learned to recognize outfits. They seem to be taking outfit recognition to a new level for planetside2 so I look forward to this. That said I do hope that we can make certain players esp commanders seem famous for how they lead and have some way to spread the word about them.
