Probably neither. Consoles restrict modern games way too much. Mac is just not a standard. Not worth putting it on either, really.

I'd hate to see it on consoles - how would they compete with PC gamers without their aimbots?

ahh sony probly dont want to pay the license for mac, or spend the money or time making the cross over bit gutting, dont think my old pc will play the new one.

well you never know if ps2 gets big may invest

i think console iwould have a diffence sever because pc would have the upper hand with a keyboard and mouse more buttoms = more shortcuts. but it would be a bit shit too much lag and it would dim the game down

Since console games outsell PC games at more than a 10 to 1 ratio, I think they would be stupid not to release a console version of PS2 on the next gen hardware. SOE is a business after all, and they are going for the broad shooter market with PS2.

New hardware will be more than capable of running the game, and remember that a console is nothing more than a PC optimized for gaming. Servers would likely not be cross-platform though.

As long as it's ported from PC to console and not the other way around.

Sick and tired of suffering in my PC games cos the game was made for consoles.

Please no on consoles.

PC gaming is in need of a serious revival. Putting a massive game like PS on console and then further optimizing it for that would be the biggest slap in the face ever.

As for Mac, I don't really have anything against it, but I think time would be better spent optimizing the game for PC and working out bugs and fixes over the years instead of trying to put it on an OS not meant for gaming. Just a waste of time.

Lol selfish windows user! But with a mac there would not be any bugs!

Don't think ps2 would work in console going from ps1 its a very indepth game with making outfits, all the difference chat rooms, buttom layouts ect how would people chat mic? It would be mayhem with 300 players, typing? Takes me time to type on the Xbox.
Only way it would work on console is with a keyboard and mouse

Putting the Mac/Console argument aside for a moment, a platform I'd love to see the game on is OnLive.

How awesome would it be to be able to play from almost any device provided I had an internet connection? (And the appropriate input ofc)

That said, not sure how a F2P MMO would work on OnLive given how things are currently handled...

i could see it on a ps4 since it has a nice open system and is also a sony product. The xbox on the other hand probably not. They do the "apple style" business model, which means they prohibit any developer from making cross platform games for their system, they massively scrutinize and delay any patching, so much so that it makes mmo's a huge pain to near impossible to do on the system (hence the reason there are pretty much zero of them on the 360) so that if you get a massive bug or whatever, you dont get an instant patch like on a pc that day, but probably weeks or longer down the road. And they pretty much get to tell you what you can and cant do, you have no choice in the matter, you get to be their little bitch like with apple. Its not a system that promotes innovation or online persistant world games.

Microsoft loves controlling you, so i dont see it changing anytime soon. Its sad to see console makers getting away with such terrible systems that just hurt the overall gaming experience. I hope the ps4 stays much more open and just works more on their community experience (which is why the xbox does so much better). You dont need an authoritarian dictatorship to have a good community experience, you can do it while promoting choice and freedom and innovation in gaming all at the same time.

Is OnLive still around? :O

As far as I know OS X doesn't support DirectX, so don't expect anyone to rewrite the graphics engine to use OpenGL just so that a bunch of hipsters can play PlanetSide 2 in Starbucks. :P

In all seriousness, though... I've got a Mac at work and, to be honest, OS X is a joke for gaming and I respect game companies for making Mac ports, as they're most likely doing it out of pity. :P I've got a bunch of colleagues at work that own Macs and they use Windows on those when they want to play games. Starcraft 2, for instance, is pathetic on OS X, but if you install Windows on the same Mac, through Bootcamp, you'll get as much fps and visual quality as your hardware can muster.

TL;DR: OS X is only good for Spaces, the Dashboard and whatever the F9 thing is called, so buy Windows and install it on your Mac if you want to proper games, in a proper way.

Yeah OnLive is pretty sweet when compared to consoles. (i prefer the control, choice, and modability of my pc games tho). Played some F.E.A.R. 3 on a tablet the other day with a wireless controller. Crazy to see that knowing your tablet cant even remotely process those graphics and you are just getting a streaming feed. Cant beat that for mobile atleast when you have a nice wireless connection. And i do have it on my pc as well for the game bundle they have, only downside i see is the 720p rez, but thats due to them waiting on better bandwidths becoming more widely available which wont be much longer. On a smaller tablet or laptop tho its not a problem.

And yeah im curious as how how they would even handle MMO's with OnLive. It would require some changes on their end, and a custom ui set up that would work with their system for billing etc. But I dont see why it couldnt be done. However MMO games already have innate lag even if its very small, the very very small lag you get with onlive would combine with this tho which could make it a noticable problem. I could be wrong tho. If they have a solid low ping to the game servers for their hardware then the increase in lag on the user end wouldnt be enough to cause problems.

OnLive is a closed system too tho, so they would need to change things on that end as well. However they keep it closed to maintain speed (they dont want an additional ping by letting you use other multiplayer servers on the net) not so much to maintain control of you like apple/microsoft.

I know cupid already plays PS1 on Mac .... and gets great fps.

Also, I thought Higby had confirmed ps2 would be on PS4 or whatever it's called. I don't do consoles.

That's a really smart ideal, hook up a external hard drive to the MacBook and install windows 7

Cheers I'll look into it
