Nooo... I have not thought this through, but it sounds fun with a side order of useful, and what everyone loves to hear; would be difficult to make imbalanced... and they did say CQB might be in...
Its the opposite infiltrator, high visibility, takes a lot of damage. No rifles, no two handed weapons of any kind, so pistols will be primary weapon (or baton / knife). Why? Interior defense, very CQB... Outside you probably suck, but you might make it to your destination better. Just a thought, feel free to shoot it down... as per normal Edit: Damn, wrong board, thought I was on suggestions, feel free to move it Last edited by Grognard; 2012-01-30 at 06:20 PM. |

I dunno. As far as high visibility targets that take lots of damage go, it sounds like we already have that in maxes.
Some kind of directional energy shield for maxes would fit the bill and still feel like a technological advancement; though maxes may already be good enough at their job that they won't need the extra defense. We'll see. |

Ive always played a "Tank" in other games, just reliving old times vicariously I guess... There are a lot of us out there though.
I was also looking to make a good companion to the pistols that really seemed under used to me in PS1. Other combinations and reasons may be out there. ...and SHIELD BASH! |

What about just giving deployables to engineers or give them spots to fortify in bases ?
I kind of disagree with the concept of ton of defense/armor/health balanced by limited DPS. Why ? Your idea sounds like BFRs on a soldier scale: tons of HP and staying power to keep a lot of people busy but enough DPS to fuck someone up and retreat. My train of thought is that if you push balancing to the extremes by using such a rationale, you end up with: - invulnerable/no DPS players (i.e. decoy - role is to eat up damage) - OSOK glass canons (kill in one shot balanced by dying in one shot) This is a boring way to balance things up imo. If one person wants to play a live-support-barricade, he might as well have no guns. The concept of playing a wall doesn't sound too appealing to me either... |
