Need help? Keeping my new computer new??

Hi all any ideas or hints on keeping my new machine in as new a condition as possible, and as fast as the day it was switched on?

Cheers in advance

Biggest part is doing routine clean os installs. Do you have a ssd? I forgot if you did get one or not. If yes performance goes down on those overtime so you want to do several clean installs a year I'd you're picky about it.

yea i got a SSD, and thankss for the feedback, also what about the tower, im not smoking any more, but its still getting a build up of dust, im more than sure its + pressure inside, so the dust blows out, I do have a compressor and can set it to a pressure, what you think, gentle blow job? (oh baby!)

Some people say its not a good idea to use air compressors on computer due to the moisture contained in the lines. I never used one to clean it, so I suggest looking into that more before using it. Though I see people using small ones with not much air pressure all the time, so its not out of the ordinary. You do have proper dust filters on your intake fans?

Does your intake fans have a mesh style material that is really tight on the opening area where the air comes in? Something like these.

Nice, Goku. I made mine of cheap, thin foam. Just washed'em in the sink every so often. They sat on the top of the case fans on the top of the case, so no frame, etc.

Do NOT defrag the SSD. It will not help anything and it will wear it out faster.

Air compressors are less than ideal for a number of reasons. Use cans of compressed air or a DataVac.

Install as few programs as possible. For example, avoid Skype, AIM, and other chat programs that run constantly in the background.
Just say no to toolbars.
Don't use antivirus and don't click on random links, don't download anything questionable, or visit questionable websites (use Firefox with the NoScript addon if you must visit such sites). There's no cure for stupid, antivirus software is usually more harmful to performance than viruses, and it will only protect you from the old viruses it already knows about and not the ones written yesterday.
