Well, I wanted to create some poll that is not a trollbait, so here's the poll asking what you think the new Liberator's gonna be. I was arguing with my friend today about the Lib and it turned out that there're quite a lot of ways one can understand the info we have so far.
A. Battlefield-style Helicopter: Most effective at low altitude, with both gunner and driver seeding death. B. Specter Gunship: Most effective at high altitude, acts pretty much like the current Galaxy Gunship, running in circles around (or directly above, bomber-style) the target. Pilot's gun is just an addition to gunner's. C. Warthog/Bulkier version of ES fighters: Most effective in strafing runs, has more firepower then ES jets, but that only applies to a2s combat. Pilot > Gunner. D. Combination of these E. Other I voted BF-style Heli, because that would make a very interesting vehicle in means of maneuvering and teamplay. It's been said that's it's going to act a lot like the current Lib does. High altitude AC-130 type bombing, using a fixed cannon with a small viewing arc.
It features a nose and a tail gun as well though, so dived bombing with the nose gun and then pull up so the ground pounder can fire will be a viable tactic. In the recent live stream they talked about its role and gameplay style quite a lot. So the spectre seems closest on your poll Last edited by Xaine; 2012-02-10 at 11:33 AM. |

I'd hope for something a bit more low-to-the-ground but not quite assault chopper style.
More like an A-10 that can hover.

That would be pretty bad ass.

It's definitely going to be more like the AC-130. It has roughly the same weaponry, it is much bigger than an attack helicopter and it most certainly won't be as versatile as a chopper. Add the limited firing arc for the gunner(s), which means to cover more area you should use it from higher altitude, circling the same way the AC-130 does... yeah definitely a very Spectre-like aircraft.

Also, the thought of a deployed Galaxy in PS2 with some good combat engineering added makes me all tingly. mobile f'ing fortress. Oh yes. I've been pushing/asking/wanting/fantasizing about that for a loooong time. |
