There is no weapon looting. Higby was asked about this picture befor,e and he said it was just them messing around with stuff. They used their dev powers to give a TR an NC gun, but in game you wont be able too.

fairly certain that higby already addressed this as simply being a slip where they were testing gun skins and missed the fact that it had an NC logo on it.

hmm does that mean the we won't be able to get the weapons of fallen friendlies or even pick up ammo from them?

Sadly, they're not letting you take weapons.

I don't know why, and I find the excuse of 'balance' to be rather flimsy at best. If an NC weapon is OP in TR or VS hands, then it's OP in in NC hands.

Ok but how would picking up weapons of your own Empire destroy the balance? Say I'm an assault guy and my buddy here with the anti-vehicle rocket launcher gets blown to pieces by the enemy tank, what do I do?
1. I pick up his weapon and fight the tank
2. I pew pew at the tank with my assault rifle cause I can't pick up his weapon
3. I put a bullet in my head cause I can't use his weapon and it's a better death than 2.

well since they are going to BF style way, would you be able to swap out the Kit/class you have on for your dead friends kit/class or are they just not going that road... there's a question for GDC

I think they said you would be able to pick up kits from friendlies (and justified it as being one way to try other kits and equipment before certing for it).

I would have to find the source to prove it, though.

I'm pretty sure that it will be BF like.

I think it's to do with weapon enhancements. makes me sad that we can't loot enemy guns but I suppose it stops someone with say a very powerful mcg to all his newbie friends.

I agree. In fact, it actually makes balance issues worse because you can't loot an enemy weapon to make up for a deficiency in your own empire's weapon of the same type. Although w/ the lower TTK's in PS2 and weapon cus-toe-my-zay-shun, balance issues will hopefully be much less prevalent/noticeable than they were throughout PS1's history.

I would be perfectly fine if, when we looted an enemy corpse, we could only loot the "stock" version of the weapon. So even if it had a bigger mag and a neato-keen scope on it, if we looted it we wouldn't get those unlocks, just the base weapon.

As for handing out customized weapons to friends, any weapon pulled from a term that is not the stock weapon will cost resources to pull. So that by itself would stop people from handing out pimped-out weapons to every friendly in sight.

Its a 1 time buy with resources to unlock it, after that its free to grab from a term or spawn in with. Higby said it last AGN.

No, I think the biggest issue here is the ammo. The fuckoig VS and their weird ass ammo. In PS1, I could loot an MCG and get the ammo at my own terminal, but I could only get the ammo for a lasher off vs soldiers I gunned down. In PS2 though, we dont have a free form inventory, so before I can loot the ammo, they need to come up with a good way to give me ammo for the lasher without me having to swap kits every time.
