With the adoption of a class system (like Battlefield) and an offline training system (like Eve, where I'm assuming you will only be able to train 1 character at a time) I'm wondering if there will be a point to having multiple characters, or if it will even be allowed. The only reason I could think of would be to try other empires, but I believe 1 empire per server has been established. If you want to try another empire, you must go to another server. I kind of like the idea of each player having one character and one name that identifies them, so we don't have to go nuts tracking everyones alts. Thoughts?

This.
If you want a toon for another empire or a toon you can train while playing your main on the same server (maybe so you can play incognito occasionally), just make a second account. The other account wont have the station cash stuff on it, but if its cosmetic only, that wont really matter. |

Yes there is offline training, but they said you can only train 1 toon at a time per account. So your offline alt cant train while your training your main, online of off.
Also even if there is an initial cost for an account I'll still pay it to have multiple empires per server. I can't see it being more than $20. |
