1. What is your budget and does that include shipping/taxes?
2-3k 2. Where do you live? Tulsa, OK 3. What do you need this computer to do (like gaming, Photoshop, and so on)? Gaming, Streaming, Video editing. 4. What parts will you need for the computer? Please list what parts specifically. Nothing super specific. Def. want some cooling. All my computers in the past have had problems with overheating. 5. Are you reusing any parts for this computer? If so please say what parts. Just input/output stuff. 6. What kind of monitor/resolution do you have or want to get to use for the computer? I already own a 20" widescreen 7. Do you have a legit OS? If so what OS and is it 32-bit or 64-bit? I plan on upgrading to windows 7 ultimate 64bit 8. What are you looking for the motherboard to have feature wise? Like SLI, Crossfire, Firewire, USB 3.0, Sata 6.0 Gb/s, and so on. USB 3.0, SLI, sata. 9. Any plans to overclock the CPU or GPU? Maybe in the future. But not right away. 10. What time kind of time frame are you planning on ordering these parts? Before end of march. |

If you are right up against the end of March that is going to be awfully near the Launch of IB, which I believe is in early April. The CPUs are going to be better then the current SB ones, while only a minor bump in clock for clock, chances are overclocking should be a lot better. Will you be able to hold out for this CPU or do you need this computer ASAP? Kepler maybe launched in April, but if you want Nvidia you can go EVGA and just trade up at a later date so that won't hold back the build.
About the budget are you considering doing multi GPU? I recommend getting a bigger monitor or maybe going to multi monitor to do more with the budget. Otherwise you will have a pretty bad ass computer for ~1.5K or so.

ASAP is def. preferable.
Using my old laptop running a linux OS off an external hard drive is more then a little annoying. EVGA for a later tradeup is fine. Multiple GPU is something I would consider. But cheaper is def. better if it will do all the things I want. I'm also wouldn't buying a bigger/2nd monitor. |

What resolution is the 20 inch monitor? Once I know this I'll come up with something even though it will be total over kill. Never hurts of course.

Alright. Do you want to stick with Nvidia on this build or go for the AMD 7900?
At that resolution I recommend sticking to single gpu as well. EDIT: Are you including the price on the OS in the build? If so unless you need the extra features of Ultimate I recommend going with Premium as you will not notice any difference.

Alright here is what I put together:
Intel Core i5-2500K - $229.99 EVGA GeForce GTX 570 - $329.99 ($20 MIR) MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3) - $189.99 ($30 MIR) Crucial M4 128GB SSD - $174.99 G.SKILL Value Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 - $36.99 Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD - $124.99 Antec NEO ECO 620C 620W - $69.99 Corsair Carbide Series 500R Case - $139.99 ($10 MIR) COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus - $27.99 ($10 MIR) - For better CPU cooling/overclocking Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - $99.99 Total = $1,424.90 - $70 MIR = $1354.90 If you are not looking to burn money this is the most sensible route to go. Possible add ons for you want to spend more money is a GTX 580. Gives you more performance, but I doubt you will notice it at your resolution. Although if you are planning to step up with the release of Kepler it is likely not worthwhile. Just due to the fact it will likely out do the 580 in performance and potentially cost less. Adding another 8GB of memory for a total of 16GB is overkill, but its cheap enough. Depending on how serious you are with video editing going for the 2600K instead of the 2500K will help with the time it takes to do that. For the case swapping it out to something more to your liking. Though that case is a good midtower with plenty of cooling.

Goku, wouldn't a 448 core 560ti be a better deal? It comes within 2-3 frames of a 570 at his resolution and would probably beat it with the factory overclocks on third-party cards. |

If effective is interested in the trade up you need a AR lifetime card from EVGA. No 448 560s offer that, so with that he is best off with the 570 I my opinion. If not I would recommend the 448 560 with ease.
