I just thought I'd share this bit of information (found on page 124 of the ever expanding EQ2 thread...), and its likely effect on the upcoming PS2.
Prosebien are going to be in control of the EQ2 cash shop and what goes in there (they have their own Alaplayer points), how they run their current Korean shooter MMO gives a worrying fortaste of PS2's european future. Full article here http://mmohuts.com/editorials/alapla...-arena-shooter
But for a MMO where I might invest some serious time in I want to know the game is in safe hands, if the owners think pay to win is a fine concept then how long before if player numbers dip they decide to wring the cash out (get the players hooked and then reeeeel them in tactic). Smedley has a lot to answer here, but from what I've heard they are still struggling to get over the region IP lock, the EQ2 player base at least have found 30 or so problems beyond that, all of them show stoppers. |

They said weeks ago too that they would not remove US players from UK servers...
The cash shop + no ability to handle subscriptions + ability to alter items in cash sho + no artists/programmers adds up to something I don't like the sound of. |

So recently i've asked in their forum if anything has happened and guess what they've never added a single thing since the release of feb 2010 if I remember correctly... Another story is about swtor where they've praised their awesome world pvp experience: Now see what has become of it: Also how far it goes: ( Biggest thread ever ever) http://www.swtor.com/community/showt...292106&page=77 My 2 cents cencerning the credibility of making money and how i ended up watining for planetside2 which I hopefully can stick with for many many years... This further strengthens 1 fact.
I WILL DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO PLAY ON THE US SERVERS! I will openly admit this. (because they have not made one post here on the most important forum in PS2) Also I will admit that I will screw them over at every turn I can "if they keep this shit up", they will never get 1 penny from me. Now bare in mind i have roughly spent about £2000 of Planetside2 and the game is not even out yet. So not getting a penny from me will hurt their pockets! Sort it out Pro7, or at least get one of your community managers to come over here and start spending some time with your new gamers and maybe try and make something of the community before it gets destroyed. Ok. Now on the flip side, SOE, I only support you as your slightly better (if not by much) than Pro7. And all due to the fact you sold us to these monsters! But at least you will keep your game up to date. And you have an amazing Dev crew, and if £1 of my money helps to pay the wages of you all at SOE, im fine with that, I have no doubts in paying for a cool team etc. But now I am asked to pay my £1 (witch is worth more than 1Euro I might add) to a German company that cant even make an appearance on the most dedicated Planetside website on the net, and start doing something in the way of strengthening the community, fuck me that's a hard pill to swallow. And you put us here SOE. What a fantastic predicament to put your fan base into. Grrrrr! FFS. Also I hate slagging SOE off, as I know some cool folks that work there, Purrfect, Higby, T-Ray, Radar, Donnar Prior (over the road), Adam (Arc) and a shit tonne more. But How do we throw insults at SOE without you guys getting in the middle. Grrr I hate your bosses. Somebody please give me a name so I can direct all my anger to them. is it Smedley? Morto. they seem intent to break into the big league wait and see... they could pull it together :S
I should imagine the target audience of those games is different from SOE's flagship titles just by looking at them Last edited by Nephilimuk; 2012-02-24 at 06:06 PM. |

We need to know if they are doing something about it, witch will take longer than the VS max to show its face if anything does ever change about it. And we also need to know if it doesn't change, can I/we still get a good game on the US servers totally bypassing Pro7? Is this possible? Because I will. |

I'll just say what needs to be said. The main reason for the Region Lock is so they can do what they want on their server and if you don't like it you just can't play the game.
they are most likely planing to make PS2 pay2win and no one will bother with their PS2 if they can just log into the US one where everyones on equal footing.

I want to think that Pro7 is going to make an honest effort to be a big player and not cock up, but everything I've seen presented about them up until now points in the other direction. I don't know that there's anything they can really do to show us that they're serious about not fucking up the game, but I know one thing they could do is have an actual employee register here and talk to us directly, much in the same way that the SOE team does (someone who is in a position to at least know who to call to get and pass information).
On a more selfish note, this also makes me feel glad I live in Texas, which is something that's (scaringly) starting to happen increasingly more seldom.
