Night/Thermal scope and flashlight speculation

So, with the announcement of these scope/attachements existing In the game I have been wondering about how everyone thinks they should work or concerns they have about them.

Here are some of my questions/concerns;

Flashlights: Will they have a blinding effect similar to bf3? (should they?) can you toggle it on or off?(should it be toggled off by default when you spawn?) Will they be necessary for night time. Will facilties have sections that go pitch black if the generator goes offline? (assuming they still have gens)

Thermal: What are the cons for using this scope? (bf3 had one and it was abused horribly) What should be the best time to use a scope like this? (Close range to spot cloakers? For Sniping?) note: They have also anounced that they have an implant that blocks your thermal signature. So that I suppose is a con. But what are the others? If any? This could also help prevent smoke spam.

Nightvision: How dark will the night battles really be? Will gunfire or bright flashes eventually cause your nightvision to fail? (should it?)

What do you guys/gals think about the scopes and flashlight? Anyone else excited to use a 12x scope on the jackhammer lol?

I /think/ Higby said he didn't like how Flash lights worked in BF3.

They're currently tweaking how dark it is at night.

As long as a flashlight functions like a real flashlight i have no problem with them. Daylight blinding needs to be avoided.

QFT, In reply to the op. They also mentioned a implant that could block out Thermal.

Pro's of Thermal - come night unless you have that implant they mention in the dev chat that can block out thermal. your going to stick out like a sore thumb. So more kills.

Con's of Thermal. Hopefully they limit it to just night. Day time it needs to blur out the view. So you'll need to change your scope to something more appropriate.

I think straight up blurring is a cheap way to balance it. Thermal work in the day because it only detects heat.

If they were going to give it a somewhat realistic approach then thermal would work whenever but for the sake of balancing I wouldn't mind the surroundings becoming "hot" so everything shows up brightly.

Maybe, but it works. It help keep people from running around with nothing but thermal on their weapons 24/7.

I'm not hot on the idea of night/thermal vision. I'd rather be without it and have everyone with the same night time experience.

I totally just realized how night vision could have an impact indoors. I don't see a base going pitch black when the power goes down, but I can see a slowly flashing/turning emergency light with some darkness in between or darker areas. Oohhhh I can't wait to stab people.

I certainly speculate any flashlights/headlights can be turned off, and something like being on when they spawn could be a Gameplay option you toggle.

I really don't want to see the slight blinding like BF3.

Yeah, facilities having that Aliens-like red emergency lighting that strobes a bit would be a pretty cool feature.

I don't imagine thermal or flash lights will be necessary for night fighting, as the screenshots of darkness we've seen aren't tremendously dark, but they'll probably be helpful in some situations in shaving off a couple miliseconds from recognizing friend from foe at night.

Thermal meanwhile will probably be more for very long-range shooting at night, where the darkness at long range might be such that people do get hard to discern, especially amongst cover.

Blinding light is good.
But not BF3 level. The game literally turned into flashlight wars before the patch.

Flashlights did deliver positive results in gaming world. Night games have become exciting and real. Small changes does bring lots of good things
