I know, still havent played Beta but:
After seeing the combat in the demo, does anyone else think the LA class is going to be the most irritating aspect of the game? The LA is jumping around on the roofs, throwing grenades and then jumping off again. I think its a bit too OP. Whats the advantage for the rexo/medic/engy? extra armour? Not much point if you cant shoot at the guy up on the roof where you cant get to him. They need to have really low health to be balanced in my opinion otherwise everyone and their gran is going to be LA. |

Not really concerned. You most likely can't really spam the jet pack and if you can, it can easily be toned down.
Jumping makes you very vulnerable without cover and a predictable path of movement. HA (except TR) and MAXs arnt in yet, so fe. in that video we saw more LA than probably in normal cases. But no, didnt seem OP at all to me. I think it was fairly well implemented that it makes the fight spread out on several levels without being any kind of ridicilous Tribes-kinda jetpacking. If indeed LA and the jump packs end up too popular compared to other classes/setups, I'm pretty sure SOE will act. I think they are a cool addition, but I dont want to see the game turn into a jump fest either.

I didn't like it either but we'll have to see how it plays out with hundreds of people in one battle. I hope it doesn't turn out like Halo where everyone is jumping around or Tribes where most of the battles are about hitting people in mid air. If it becomes too over powered then everyone will be one and that is game ruined then.
Have to see because it looks like you can die a lot easier too so maybe in the end them people will just get picked off so quick. |

light assault on the roofs, killing the poor rexos on the ground that cannot reach them will not be a problem...
keep in mind that rooftops are underneath a sky, and the sky presents a much greater threat to light assaults than the soldiers on the ground do. crowded rooftops will be aircraft bait. and suddenly the roofcrowd has to run and take cover... in the territory of the rexos. as t-ray said, the players are the content, and we will have to balance the game. there are countermeasures for every situation, we just have to find them and develope good tactics.

It's not like they are going to be able to roll out their own aircraft easily. Last edited by Vash02; 2012-03-07 at 08:26 AM. |

The majority of the zones are not bases, they're those smaller outposts and such. Most of the land to be acquired is land that is relatively open. In those cases I'd imagine light assault would be at a bit of a disadvantage compared to heavy assault. Furthermore, there are the indoor areas of bases to consider as well.
