I'm thrilled that we've gotten a glimpse at the MAX for my beloved Vanu. I will say that I was surprised that it didn't look as quintessentially "MAX" as the art-design of the three faction-MAXes that we've seen. This screenshot looks more like a suit of heavy-assault armor than MAX armor. The concept-art looked more MAX like (for all three factions). I'll admit, I can't quite put my finger on why, apart from perhaps that there is no bulkiness or heavier-plating of armor that differentiates it much from a foot soldier. The Terran MAX, for instance, is all chest and shoulders, much more than normal infantry armor. The NC MAX is an armored SQUARE (in a REALLY good way). This makes them look more like human sized "mechs" than "heavy armor." For some reason, the Vanu MAX (in the screenshot) didn't really give off that vibe to me.
I do like the wing-protrusions, though. Basically, I want the MAX suits to be quickly-recognizable as "this is not normaly infantry, it's not even HEAVY infantry, it's a MAX." Can't wait to see more. This game will be amazing. Other people? Thoughts? ~Zachariah |

I think it's more sort of said that MAXes aren't exactly big hulking suits of armor like they were in PS1. But rather, they're just a heavier infantry. Evident by the fact that they can get into every gunner seat and vehicle position this time around. Not sure about Drivers, but I know that they can get into passenger seats.
Personally, I'd prefer the bulkier MAXes. It seems like more of a trade off, of course, this was based loosely on information we've sort of heard and they're subject to change, so who knows. Maybe it's a lot more bulkier in game than it looks now? |

I..... don't think that MAXes can pilot vehicles... In fact, I'm not sure if even Heavy Assault can pilot vehicles. I remember Higby saying (a few months ago) that "all infantry can pilot vehicles except for Heavy Assault." I highly doubt MAXes can get into vehicles; they ARE vehicles. However, this is definitely worth getting some confirmation; can anyone sound off on this issue?

thanks for the link! must have missed it.
looks nice, but i also think that it could look bulkier. but maybe just the vs one is advanced and slim, while the other two look more mechanical and solid. was a little like that in ps1, also with the bfrs.

As I said before it looks in my Eyes to slim for being a MAX Unit.
Also I dont like the Helmet Design which looks to Human and Harmless. I dont really care about the Wings but I dont see any Benefits in them.

my guess is, the wings are really just a hitbox compensation. this max may be more slim than the other bulky ones. to make up for this, it gets this artificial hitbox enlargement. and it looks manga robot scifi badass.

Which is fine. Vanu MAXes are *supposed* to be jump-capable. I think having something high up the cert tree that would unlock that functionality would be fine. |

We've already been told many times that jump jets will not be available for any MAX; they are exclusive to Light Infantry. That would be like one faction's MAX being able to heal while the other two couldn't.
