What I mean by this is that the resources should accumulate to unlock a new weapon/vehicle designed by SOE....
An Example is SOE coming out with a weapon design but they don't put it in game....until the empires meet the require resources which could take months. Once empires get enough resources by being successful, they can unlock it so each player can use it. This will make resources way more valuable and give the players even more motivation to win.....because frankly in Planetside 1, their wasn't a real point in winning other than it was fun which is actually a good point. Of course the weapons/vehicles shouldn't be OP but just be different enough that people will want those weapons/vehicles to be unlocked. Please SOE, it will be amazing if players were the one who actually unlocked new content thru actions in games instead of magically having new weapons introduced. |

I don't understand how it would work. So empires could have more weapons and vehicles than other empires because of the zerg's accomplishment? Why would someone join an empire with less stuff?

Im just saying that SOE should come out with new weapons/vehicle and thru resources people get to unlock them....meaning a more dominant Empire can unlock them first. If for some reason an empire was so dominant that other empires couldn't unlock things....which I really doubt that will be the case....then SOE should step in and limit the unlocks. But Im sure that every empire will unlock things....Only question is some faster than others and since Planetside is a very balanced game, it could be like a week or less in unlocking things. It will just add more motivation to the war and make things funner if I knew I could unlock a new weapon/vehicle before my enemy could. |

If a thing like that was in place i'd rather do it for long term underdog empires and not for the big bad stomping empire.
A game that tried to tie gear unlock to dominance was ww2ol, the faction that bombed the other's factories the most delayed research and development of equipment tiers. it was rubbish and it was scrapped when people started to use same-tier gear 3 weeks later than the enemy. |

well, introducing new stuff via some sort of events would be cool.
it should never boil down to one empire getting new stuff and the others not getting it, but giving the winner a temporary advantage would make a good motivation. like the winner gets the new stuff first, and the other 2 factions will have to wait a week longer. there might also be some lore around this! like the winner has developed the ne stuff successfully, while the other two stll have to capture and reverseengineer the stuff.

First of all the new weapons/vehicles wont be OP....They will just be different. 2nd of all Planetside was pretty even in most cases, I don't remember an empire getting completely destroyed....I really think the way Planetside 2 is design, balance is gonna be pretty good. So all teams are gonna be getting resources regardless....Sure the most dominant empire might get more than others but the gap won't be huge...Like I said if anything it would be a week or less that an empire gets to use unloack a new weapon before the others...and I really think it will be less since the game is so balanced. If people are truly worried that an Empire is gonna control 75% of the worlds resources which I really doubt....then they could put a safety net where the weapons/vechiles get unlock in a certain time regardless of resources....but I really doubt that. |

when i used the term "winning" i meant winning an event.
lexample: the phantasm gets patched into the game and it will only be available in a special techplant so a massive fight will occur at that special techplant. there are several possibilities how this can be considered to be won: 1. for a week only the empire who owns this facility gets the phantasm 2. the phantasm stays locked until one empire has owned the base for a preset amount of time like 3 days in total. the empire that fills up their timer first gets the phantasm for a week, after the week the other empires reverse engineer the phantasm and it gets unlocked on all techplants. 3. the phant could be pulled from the special techplant for some time until one empire collects a certain amount of some ressource. when the ressources are collected, this empire unlocks the phantasm. the other two might also collect the ressources and unlock it, as well or wait 2 weeks until it is unlocked for everyone. (in case the last empire suffers from populationloss or the disadvantage and cannot fill on the ressource) there are loads of possibilities for special events and they would be more fun than just a patch with new stuff. and it could act as a ressource sink from time to time to strenghten the cash shop. edit: the ressource collection could work on a donation base! every player would be able to donate of his own ressources and see the total account of the empire and how far it is away from the price

That's a good idea, I thought about events like that as well but I wasn't sure how it will work out but yeah it can happen thru events like u mentioned as well. |

That way no empire is ever entirely denied whatever it is, but the highest performers are rewarded with freer access more quickly. |

This sounds very similar (in fact almost the same as) the "Run-for-the-Guns" event SOE tried in PS1 for the 5 (?) year anniversary. For those that have no idea what the event was; SOE removed access to all vehicles, and each empire had to "unlock" them by spending time "researching the secrets of the Ancient Vanu" (i.e., fighting in the caves). Basically, as you won cave battles, you gained points, and each vehicle required a certain number of points to unlock. Sounds pretty similar, no?
The problem is two fold; first no one really liked fighting in the caves (not a problem with your suggestion so we'll skip it). Second, it means that you are essentially giving perks to the Empire that has already proven to be better than the others (for whatever reason). This is making the better empire, even better, and that makes game play even more lopsided. Guess what happens next? The losing empires log off and go and start riots on the Official Forums. (Meaning their in game representation is even lower, giving the already strongest empire, that much more of an edge). The idea that everyone will keep fighting to try to "come back from behind" sounds cool and all; as does 'rewarding the better empire', but in reality, when people feel they're fighting an unbalanced game, they log off and whine on the forums...
