Higby mentioned a while ago that Light Assault would be able to kit out their jets to allow them to glide rather than jump...
I really want a Gal to be able to drop an LA squad from a decent distance away from a base and then they glide in without the big obvious warning that the Gal itself presents, so I hope that its on a big enough charge or even indefinite to allow them to do this. |

It could fit their idea of vertical gameplay. Top down action !
With the biolab that looks a lot more like a tower, I suspect you could spawn at the top, jump down and try to cut the attackers from behind. Image all the fun for snipers too: a dream come true ! |

Would be awesome if they were very close to the glide packs in FireFall...
<snip>... They may or may not involve skill... I'm happy for any additions that takes a little bit of mastery

This sounds epic! Could make for interesting canyon engagements with the enemy flying down from above.

Definitely gotta have sensitive glide packs that could be damaged by enemy small-arms fire or EMP weapons. Give them backup chutes to slow decent.
I'm thinking wingsuits with a little better glide coefficient. |

I want them for cloakers. No other jump pack.. just this one... specifically for what Dviddleff is speaking of. Considering the fact that terrain movement is in lgiht assaults favor. I figure simply being able to leap and manuver a bit easier, or drop with abit more finesse, should be considered for cloakers. It doesn't give a true advantage above anyone else that a cloaker doesn't already kind of have. And if not this, the ability to climb or.. something.
I will say that I may be a little biased since cloakers used to be the most "agile" infantry and that is certainly not the case any longer. |

Why play a light assault when you can breach walls and get to rooftops while invisible? The cloaker's strengths are its cloak. Giving it the strengths of light assault would be as unfair as giving light assault a cloak. Doing either obviates one of the classes and subsumes its role to a now-superior class. |

Simple, have a vertical version that allows someone to go upwards and can be used in bursts for a variant of gliding, Halo Reach style. This is how I expect them to work as standard.
Have another variant that is always on, or at least doesn't run out. It can be used for maintaining a height but not for going upwards. So if someone wants to hover around at x height they have to walk/jump off an edge and then hover, it won't allow them upwards though. This variant could last far longer than the standard burst/upwards variant. Have a third variant that fires absolutely all of the jet pack every single time, but can launch much higher than the standard variant. Greater height possible at the expense of control/versatility. That's pretty much it for the ends of the spectrum that a jetpack type feature can have no? Unless you want to add a horizontal boosting ability. Allow it to launch a person forwards in the same manner it would launch a person upwards? This seems like it would be an annoying gameplay feature though. Used for running away constantly or chasing people down, much like Halo's Sprint/Roll feature, the only choice anyone with a brain uses. |
