The Ice Plains of Ceryshen

for aditional iformation, read my other two storys, The Landing, and The Forest Seige

Since we had done such a good job on Cyssor, division command had relocated us to the icy cold plains of Ceryshen. There was no gigantic landing or massive battles. We just landed and set up a forward command post. Our base just consisted of a bunch of tenets a few AMSs, and a couple of landed Galaxys. Other than our riflemen, we had two enforcers and 20 MAXs. Though there were masses of enemy troops all around us, there no trees or rolling hills for kilometers so the enemy couldnt attack without us knowing far in advance.
Every now and then a scout or sniper would spot an enemy head poking out from some far off dune or a buggy would be seen patrolling the area but they would never come near the base. After two days of sitting around waiting for orders from command, a single voice rang out over the camp saying enemy inbound, lock an load you sons a bitches. Looking out over the ice planes I could see a mass of at least 50 MAXs with 75 or more riflemen taking cover behind them. The sharp, piercing noise of a bolt driver in use signaled that the snipers were doing their job. The heard or wild red demons continued to charge the base, 500 meters, 400meters. As I continued to watch this mechanized force charge us, a friendly scream put the Phoenix missiles into motion. I followed one as it embedded its explosive warhead into a MAX and immediately turning it into its raw components.
Straight ahead I cold see a MAX bearing down on me. From behind the face plate I could see the evil grin on the face, that devil face. I grew afraid, scared, I panicked, and when I panic I put a Gauss clip into whatever caused that panic, and this was no exception. The MAX, with the face still grinning stumbled over onto its stomach never to bother me again. The tremendous roar from the engines of the Galaxys could be heard as the transports jumped into the air, turrets blazing. Taking cover behind a crate, I zeroed in on a rifleman and unloaded dead bodies dropped everywhere and still the battle continued. As soon as it began it ended. Enemy troops retreated, and the ones that didnt were mowed down. The adrenaline quickly died off and once more I could think strait. As I looked of on the ice field that had recently been the stage for a battle was now riddled with the dead and dying. The company priest continued to recite his holy words of god, even while he bled from his right arm. The medic tent was so full that a second tenet was commandeered and many of the wounded were being flown to other continents. Of in the distance, a group of enemy buggys picked up their survivors and wounded. Once more I found the dead body of Thompson and two other squad members lying face down in the ice.
Looking across the plains I realized that even demons and evil minions could roam and occupy these cold plains. And thus starts my crusades to irradiate the presence of the enemy and once more make Ceryshen a safe place for men and women to live in comfort.
