DICE allows people to pay to skip leveling

Linkage

"Today, we are also offering 10 different shortcut items for sale for Battlefield 3 on PC. If you're new to the game, this is the perfect way to gain some ground on the veterans online. Or if you'd love to get your hands on those AA missiles for jets instantly, this is for you."

Unlocking EVERYTHING, is only $25.

People have been going through months of unlocking, now brand new players can just pay to get everything, lol

I know we have some BF3 players here, so how pissed are you? Or are you excited?

This doesn't bother me. I'm not going to spend money on this but if someone wants to spend $25 on things I can get for free just by playing the game they're more than welcome to. If they were offering overpowered weapons for money, I would have a problem with that, but as it is they're not giving them an unfair advantage. Most people playing already have all of the stuff unlocked anyway.

Doesnt bother me. If the high rank stuff is overpowered compared to starter stuff, they have already failed so hard.

Pay2skipgrind is perfectly fine, you just gotta learn to make them sidegrades.

Time is valuable, most people with lives probably can't afford to put in 5 hours a day into a game, yet still want reach the higher unlocks one day. Anything that makes em money and isn't pay2win is ok to me. And if well designed, they arnt pay2win.

There's the touchy part. Selling a pure short cut on time doesn't sound so bad, but things like counter measures and guided ammunition are only available after a very long unlock process, and there is no low level equivalent.

Plus there's the people who are only half way through the ranks and have been playing since release, they still have to pay the $25 I'm assuming. If that where me I'd feel trapped between paying the $25 after I've all ready put weeks into it and feeling ripped off, or continue progressing as normal as brand new people are aloud to pass me.

I just hope there's no way to buy a max battle rank or cert progression in PS2. I'm fine with xp boots for a duration though, just not buying max level.

Part of the fun in games like this is progressing your character. Buying your way through the game takes out some of the fun IMO

I only understand being upset about the vehicle and aircraft boosters. Those truly are pay4power purchases. The gun unlocks honestly who cares. DICE can go on and on about the different nuances of the guns in this game but I can get a kill as easily with the starting guns of each class as any of the unlocks. Whatever gun you use. You shoot, you dont miss, they die. It really doesn't matter.

Honestly I just don't care much about this. Everyone is raising a fuss but I bet if they just suddenly gave 50% of new players all the unlocks without telling anyone, no one would even notice (taking out of consideration the fact that people would release that info online of course).

I am totally OK with this in a free game. Its a little bit heavy handed money grab for a pay to play shooter, but

Like what was already said, this doesn't give anyone an unfair advantage, it just lets them get all the stuff without actually playing. They will still be trying the different weapons seeing which is good for certain situations or just sticking to one. This is just another example of how bad of a company EA is and how all they want is more money. If Origin was not proof enough, this clearly is.

origin was already enough proof for me to not buy ea games any more.

and thanks to planetside 2, i will not miss any fps fun any more due to my boycott.

i am totally against any kind of cash shop in a game i had to buy for 60 bucks or more.
make the game free to play, and you may squeeze out as many cash as you want through a shop. but combining all methods of cash-milking together is a dealbreaker for me.

i love the route ps2 is taking. you can play the whole game for free and decide to pay as much as you think the game is worth for you! and you even get additional stuff if you choose to pay. a lot of gamers will love this system because you never feel ripped off, and i am sure they will contribute.
i am willing to buy stuff or subscribe! just because a free 2 play game means no totally useless and unnecessary hassle with overelaborated copyprotections that infiltrate my system (and yet deliver absolutely no obstacle to the dedicated copyright pirates). this alone is worth a subscription!
