The Sundy will have the ability to be outfitted for support, so I would like to expand on this concept a little.
How about being able to sidegrade a Liberator to drop supplies to friendlies who request it? Vehicle ammo may not be available at regular terminals and an equipped lib could drop ammo for vehicles. This could be something special and as simple to pick up as just running it over. Just a possibility for support players who enjoy such things.

I can see benefits and problems with this. As a tank pilot, i do like the idea of ammo raining from the sky. But from a gameplay mechanic standpoint, it does pose problems.
From what i've seen ammo management is going to be a bigger part of combat with 2 than it was with 1. This would kind of destroy the mechanic they are trying to put into place(Using the Liberator example anyways). I could see this as a nice day long event though. Planetside Thanksgiving, when ammo rains from the sky! |

Interesting reviews. I do feel it sounds a bit arcadey, but in it's defense, it wouldn't be prolific. You'd basically be flying an unarmed aircraft in the attempt to supply others. It's not like you'd just be hanging out over tanks dropping all day. But at that, this is just a topic for fun.
As for the Liberator and bombs reference. The Liberator is not just a bomber. It is a template. I guess this idea could be a sidegrade for the Galaxy template as well. Troop transport, deployable spawn, gunship or supply dropper. You choose your loadout.

I'm sorry, I already do not like that all vehicles seemingly can do all things.
It weakens the need to bring the right tool for the job as it is. We will already have to try to figure out if that's just a prowler, or one that shoots health packs in an AOE spread. All this, so no one player needs to think beyond point and shoot, or is disadvantaged for bringing the wrong vehicles to an encounter. So, no, I do not like the idea. I would rather have the vehicles diversity back, than continue down this path. |

I like the idea itself, but I can't see it working especially well in application. If PS1 is any indicator a tank will be more likely to run out of health than ammo, and the sundy already provides ammo while it repairs (I think? Pretty sure).
If you were to make it a full resupply point for infantry (could be a combination of engy and Lib certs) then I could see this being a thing that you drop into critical points in bases to anchor an advancing force. No repairs but it's full resupply, so it would replenish med juice/ammo crates for LA and so on. I'm also still in support of giving the Lib a module for light troop transport. I'm flying the thing, I want it to have options. >.> |

Voted yes.
I don't know how the ammo system works on tanks yet but the supply drops don't HAVE to have extra ammo. It could be a minor shield for a tank for example. Lots of cool things could come out of this other than just supply drops. What about giving the liberator a few ammo options so one could fly around with AI bombs as well as smoke bombs to block the enemies vision. Poison gas to halt enemy infantry from crossing a ravine if their is cover for them to hide under before the bombs land, etc., etc.

In WW2, the JU88 was the most modified and customised weapon in the entire war. Anything from medium bomber to recon. I mean... WTF? A bomber doing recon? that just seems ridiculous.
Seems like you're proposing that for the Lib. I could get on board that idea but the devil is always in the details. You gotta think "How could this be exploited" and work from there... |

Edit: I don't mind the supply drop idea, but I don't agree with a Lib doing it. Last edited by Kilmoran; 2012-04-02 at 07:50 PM. |

I voted yes with one caveat ... You can't just run over the ammo to pick it up. Passengers should have to pickup the boxes and load them into the vehicle. Equipment drops have been SOP in the military since aircraft was invented... why not add them to PlanetSide 2 .. I think it would be fun in all aspects if done correctly.
