Are you upgrading for PS2?

Assuming PS2 launches 6-12 months from now, will you be upgrading your hardware to play it?

Re: Are you upgrading for PS2?

I practically just build what I have now, so likely not.

i7 2600k
GTX 570
16 gb RAM

Should be enough for high or at the very least medium.

I already upgraded for Skyrim and PS2. I built a whole new comp that cost around $1200 if you include monitor and nice headphones.

i5
2x 560ti
8gb Ram (should add more here though).

I made the mistake of believing the launch hype and jumped in and bought a new machine last year solely to be able to play PS2

So, much as I would love to, I'm afraid "the bank manager says no"

Still, It's got a phenom II X6 with most of the other bits, so should still be able to run with enough eye candy to keep me happy

Also it appears you made this thread already and it was moved lol. This one will likely be moved as well.

I already moved your other thread to the proper forum. I'm closing that one and moving this there also. There was no reason to make another.

That was lightning fast, Goku. I submitted and hit refresh, and my thread was already gone :P I put it in PS2 discussion because it's not really a tech question, just a general take on the community's feeling of what it will cost to run the game adequately.

I'm assuming you think this thread is worthless, so go ahead and close it down. It's not like there's ever more than 1 viewer at a time in Tech :(

Yeah haha, I didn't even see the first had moved (thought I forgot to submit). :P

Too bad, I was kind of interested in what the general community thought about this topic.

Re: Are you upgrading for PS2?

I put in a new video card a couple months ago.

I find the idea of "upgrading for PS2" slightly hilarious at this point in time. We have little indication of real-world performance.
By the time it's actually released we'll have seen price drops on several components, if not new generations entirely.

Aye, I'm waiting until I'm able to play it until I "upgrade".

"Upgrade" might not be an accurate term though, since I pretty much need a new everything.

Fuck yeah I am. Bought i5-3570k, P8Z77-V pro, 64 GB Crucial M4, 8 GB GSkill Ripjaws X.

Edit: I am thinking a GTX 670 will be nice, but I might get the GTX 680. Once I understand how well they overclock, the decision will be easier. Monitor will be BenQ XL2420T.

Edit 2: Definitely getting the 670. http://www.overclock.net/t/1253432/gigabyte-gtx-670-oc-version-hands-on

Yes.
Current setup is a Q9550 w/ 8GB DDR3 1333 and 6950.
Will upgrade to i5 Ivy and nVidia 670 or 680, whichever is the better deal when I upgrade.
Possible 120GB - 160GB SSD also. Depends on the budget.

But at minimum I'm upgrading the video card before release. The other upgrades can come along later.

I built my PC earlier this year. I couldn't be happier. Only spent 800ish, and it runs everything flawlessly.
