Day / Night Cycle

I dont see a day/night cycle suggestion thread here, just a poll on another forum. So I am going to repeat a response of mine, as a suggestion, here.

I think the day/night cycle should be 4 hours day, 2 hours night time. My reasoning is that it will make for a 6 hour cycle. With 3 continents on a staggered schedule... it will be dark somewhere on one, going to dusk on one, and comming outa dawn on another. 4 full 6 hour cycles in one real life day...

6 hours does not seem unreasonable for a play session, even on a work day.

This isn't really an "idea", so it's meant for discussion section. Also, as linked, similar discussions exist.

I already mentioned the poll... I am not making a poll. I am suggesting the the Day / Night cycle be as I mentioned above, for the specific reasons I cited above.

Furthermore:
i·de·a/īˈdēə/
Noun:
1. A thought or suggestion as to a possible course of action: "the idea of linking pay to performance".
2. A concept or mental impression.

First hit on a google search ("idea definition"). Number 1. says Im ok. "Pay" is not really an idea either, but the examples course of action (link to performance) is... just as I am linking my specific reasons to the day / night cycle.

Thanks for the promotion.

The reason there is just a poll is that it is such a simple concept. Higby has talked about this in the video interview on how it is just a number they change. They aren't ready to settle down on any number for quite a while. Also, he has stated that each area will probably be a different time zone.

And if it was an idea, you'd be suggesting something new to improve, change, or add. This type of suggestion would be as if I started an "idea thread" on that I think all tanks need a designated driver. Instead I created an alternate idea on how to go about it in a balanced fashion in the form of a chassis mod for tanks. We can argue semantics, but it isn't much more than a thought rather than an idea, not to mention in the discussion area there would be more people vouching in on your idea for time and giving their own suggestions for the time length.

Are you really in here parsing semantics about this? This is really what you feel you need to do? I have the definition of an "idea" already established, and I am not going to bicker about petty narrow opinions on what an "idea" is.

I stand by my idea / suggested course of action, for the reasons I gave.

Thanks for the bump

This. 100%. We must look at things from perspective of someone that has limited play time, whatever ends up being decided on.

As for 4 hours day and 2 night, I suggest 3 day and 3 night instead. The first half hour on day can be dawn and the first half hour on night can be dusk.

It might seem like it favors day, but dawn and dusk are in there own lighting and don't last nearly as long as a day or night. For a half hour of dusk, you'll worry about those infiltrators coming in to take advantage. For a half hour of dawn, you'll be glad you can see again before the day gets comfortable.

I honestly can't remember how many hours it is before it changes to night; odds are, however, that it won't be changed from what it currently is.
