Vanu MAX Animation Stance.

I had originally made this in a thread about someone wanting to redesign the VANU MAX but I thought it might go well as it's own improvement thread.

I think the design is fine, however it's the awkward upright stance that's giving it the gay crab feel. They have to edit that, I mean it's perched up so awkward that I always felt it was just an alpha/beta thing that they haven't been able to give it a proper animation set.

Here I've uploaded a photoshop edit of the stance to give you an idea of what i'm talking about. It definitely has great potential. Just needs the final wax and polish to get it looking shiney.

EDIT: Some have asked me and yes, I have also edited the visor to look like there is some sort of HUD in there. Also made some of the armor parts illuminate.

As an NC, I would MUCH rather be murdered by a badass looking MAX, than a weak looking one. I don't even belong to this empire, and I approve this improvement!

Technically he already has a smiley face, it's just harder to see....

So either

A- Vanu MAX has creepy smiley face

or

B- Vanu MAX has EYEBROWS

Like I posted in that other thread, it does look better. Not only did you change its stance, you also made it more beefy horizontally. All of which I approve

However, the crab hands have to go also. They need to move those guns further back on its arm, or make them much slimmer if they are going to stick out that far.

I agree about the guns sticking out. It doesn't seem so bad in game play but the awkward upright posture still looks a little.. unpolished. I think the guns I could get used to.

Definitely think it looks better now. I think hit box profiles might be a problem when comparing to the other MAXes though. I hope they hear us out on the VS MAX design.

I'm also very unimpressed with the look of VS MAX weapons. <insert crab joke>

What ever happened to this weapon design ? http://www.giantbomb.com/planetside-...vs/51-1836549/

They probably scrapped it when they took hold of the 2 weapon type customization on the other maxes and decided to give the Vanu max two weapon mounts as well.

While the new one is decent, and the improved concept above even better, it's always going to seem like a giant crab bot with those pincer arms . I personally liked the older concept art as well, with the one unique arm cannon that resembled the original Vanu MAX.

The only way to include interesting customization on such a max would be to combine the weapon types into one system or just give them an improved single system with utilities.

Perhaps allow Vanu maxes one weapon type (Quasar, Comet, Starfire) but allow them increased utility by making each weapon type have dual ammo types that could be switched between similar to the Beamer.

For instance, the Quasar (Infantry) could have Anti-Infantry and Anti-Armor rounds. The Comet (Armor) could have Anti-Armor globs like normal, but have the secondary option for a small radius AOE Anti-infantry plasma globs. The Starfire (Air) could be given normal AA flak-like rounds but have a second option for charged target-lock rounds. All ammo would come from the same variant ammo pool, of course.

If they wanted to take the simple route, but possibly OP route, they could just give all Vanu maxes a single cannon, but allow them to switch between the Quasar/Comet/Starfire via a short click n' spin ammo change animation. It would definitely fit in more with the future tech of the Vanu.

Just an idea.
