Customization and the feel of combat.

Hello everyone, Im new to these forums, but an old hat at planet side. I picked up the game soon after it launched a played it until just before BFR's came out.

Im watching the e3 demo right now, and it looks fun, however the thing I am most concerned about is all the zebra tank's and hot pink librator's roving about ruining the feel of an epic war. I may be just old fashioned, but I'd prefer my TR jackboot black & red, my VS barneys, and NC in the noble yellow and blue. It's more difficult for me to take the combat seriously when my opponent has stenciled a smiling dildo on the hood of their tank.

Here is a discussion point for yall. Why can't we have a button in the graphic's menu, for those of us who like the factions colours, to turn off visible customization. Ideally having the choice between completely, for everyone else, and for everyone but our outfit.

Pink? Might work at sunrise/sunset if you wanna get that specific with your camo. I think the concern over the customization won't pan out once we get in and mess with it.
There is the very real possibility of going completely overboard but I trust the Devs.

The problem is, there are some of us. (I don't know how many) who prefer no customization. Everyone is proudly sporting their faction fashion. I don't see having a button in the graphic's panel as being a bad thing. Considering it only effect's the user.

The answer to your question would be, very few.

I personally feel that some customisation is good however there is a potential for going too far

I don't know man, if SOE is going to be making a lot of their money off of the customizations then I doubt that they are going to be open to a method of cheapening the impact of them. The more exposure to these camo's and other customizations the higher the chance that players will think about buying one. You have a good idea, but in terms of business I don't think it would work.

I could be wrong of course, but thats what I think.

SOE has to make money off of this game somehow customization is it.

I'll still buy customization personally, I just don't want to see everyone running around in camo and zebras. My initial idea wasn't to shut it down completely, but Voluntarily Restrict it to outfit and personal levels at the players option. So Sony still get's their money, if anything it allows the player to feel like a "special snowflake" without impacting anyone else.

Pink for sunset would work fine. Zebra stripes only work since their predators are colorblind, but it could work during a foggy night... Though Grey and dark grey camo would be better for that.

The camo patterns are a little incomplete though, faction colors still shine through.

I'm afraid you're one of a very, very small minority on this. I mean, the skins and camo patterns are not a huge draw for me, but i don't really see the harm either. Plus a vanguard with desert camo looks pretty damn epic. I could still tell it was a vanguard from the silhouette, so no problem there. I appreciate a bit of humor in my games so the loverator made me chuckle, I'm ok with it. The topping on the cake is, those are the things that will allow for the game to be FREE.

I am fine with being a minority, It isn't game breaking and I am really happy they are making a planetside 2. I just prefer thematic and specific styles, to me the TR should always be red & black.
