Anyone feel the need to travel to an objective in coordinated attacks of air, vehicles and infantry is in jeopardy? The lattice caused some wonky fronts that often had you travel across the map to attack a base. Now you are pretty much on the front lines all the time. In addition to that, there are objectives around the base that are capture-able (forward bases?) that can spawn vehicles.
I saw a lot of vehicle spawning in a forward base very close to the main base that is being assaulted. As I'm watching it I hear Clegg saying that folks will roll armor columns when the game is out. I'm thinking, why? when you can spawn your tank 100 feet away from the base. Infantry was spawning at this vehicle spawn as well and just running to the objective on foot. Well that eliminates the need for a Gal. Guess we'll see how it plays out in beta. I also don't understand the tactic that would be fly a gal over a base, drop some troops and then land and deploy? Shouldn't there be a cert that allows troops to spawn in the gal in flight? I could see landing and having your squad spawn on the gal, and then take flight again, but zerging from a deployed Gal doesn't make sense to me. An AMS could be driven off to secure location, everyone is going to be like...hey a Gal just landed over there. The potential for enemy attackers to spawn vehicles so close to a base is probably the biggest threat to coordinated attacks such as armor columns. |

No but he's right on the part about towers will now spawn vehicle and air. kinda pointless spawning back at base now that you can just pull everything from that tower which is kinda close to the enemies base now.

Come on, don't you think we should wait for beta and THEN we can make threads like this? I have no idea how planetside 1 played, there aren't videos that show how it plays. Yet I am doing this because no matter how well you knew planetside 1, we should still wait and play the beta for planetside 2 and then talk.
On topic: as others said the E3 demo isn't the real thing. And even if it's the case, don't bases have AA guns and whatnot? |

Yes, we should wait until beta to see how this really plays out.
But my understanding is that towers in PS2 are nothing like towers were in PS1. In PS1 each base had 2 towers just outside it's SOI. They were like support structures for the base and usually were the first step taken before capturing the base itself. In PS2, each hex on the map is going to have a capturable "feature". Base, mini base, bunker, tower or whatever. So in this respect I think that towers in PS2 will function as the focal point in their hex, in essence like a base unto itself. So from that perspective it makes sense to me to allow vechicle spawning, or air spawning in some cases. |

Piggybacking off of quantum up there the towers are very different from the towers in PS1. They don't seem to be there merely as a forward spawn for an attacking force, as they were in PS1. Instead they act more like miniature bases.
Another thing worth considering is the idea that all vehicle types may not be spawnable from those towers, maybe just the light ones. That would be ATV's, Lightning's etc. Gals are only spawned at tech plants, and I would guess MBT's and Sunderers will not be spawnable at towers. GUESSING edit: and Kurtz its a fact that those dinky forward bases with two vehicle spawns and 1 air spawn were only there for the demo. So fear not |

No he doesn't. The "beta" card is being used way too much here. We know how it is- Vehicles and aircraft spawn at towers. They said it themselves.
Look at the kill cam situation. They would have no way of knowing we hated the kill cam if everyone ignored it just because it was beta. Feel free to scream beta when someone complains about optimization or graphics, but don't get it confused with features that will only get changed if people speak up and let them know they don't like it. |

The reason why this complaint is dumb at this time: It's taking new mechanics in context of the old game. The fact of the matter is that continents are a bunch of scenery with some bases scattered around each with a tower...and a couple extra towers. Now every hex on the map has stuff to capture. Furthermore, balance and survivability of vehicles is quite different. Too many things are different to think that this isn't the right choice at this time.
