Like a fair proportion of people, I'm red/green colourblind. This is often a problem in many games since traditionally these colours are used for the range of health, IFF identification, and other good/bad definitions.
Is there any support in PS2 for either customising the HUD or an option to change the used colours to help alleviate this problem? On average, if there are 1000 people on a server, 60 will be red/green colourblind, which also spreads to orange/yellow in some cases, 10 will have issues with reds alone and 1 with blues. Ideally, I'd like to see a customisable HUD colour scheme to allow me to substitute green = good for a more 'distinct' colour, for example blue, but I'd also be happy with anything that can be done to help us out. |

IIRC this was discussed earlier in the forums and the devs said they'll look into this. I'll try to find the topic..
Could be I remember wrong, though.. Edit: "On average, if there are 1000 people on a server, 60 will be red/green colourblind, which also spreads to orange/yellow in some cases, 10 will have issues with reds alone and 1 with blues." Also I think this math is a bit off, since not 100% of colorblind people play fps games...

I wonder if color blind people will be able to tell apart the common pool vehicles. Especially when they are 80% covered in zebra stripes and barely have any of the faction colors on them
About the HUD, we have alredy seen that at least the layout is customizable, so maybe the colors will be too Last edited by FastAndFree; 2012-06-08 at 07:28 AM. |

I remember in that topis T-Ray was like
"Yea only X Percect of the population is colorblind. And because of that the amount of color blind people playing the game is < X " and we're all like: "T-Ray, That's not how math works. In fact color blindness is more common in males, who are more likely to be gamers, which means it's likely color blind gamers is > X ... go make the game pretty or something." and so that is the legend of why Planetside has amazing art assets. And no that's an optical illusion, go play Beta or something

I've pretty much trained everyone at work that Green = Blue, so if you would use something as green for 'good' or 'go', they use blue instead, since red and blue are far more distinct to me. I'm sure it wouldn't just be as simple in practice to just change HUD colours, but it'd be nice. And it'd make me feel loved

Meh, color blindness is really not such a big issue in FPS. If they should make adjustments for minority groups they should make specific UIs and FP view for left-handed players to accommodate them. They are far bigger group than color blind people and still they're forced to play right handed characters in most FPS games.
Also I could see easily letting you adjust your color scheme abused in exploiting purposes to make your targets more visible. p.s. you could buy yourself a monitor for colorblind if it's really such a big problem for you in-game: http://gizmodo.com/326224/flexscan-l...d-is-24-inches Last edited by Immigrant; 2012-06-08 at 09:01 AM. |

With friendly fire being on it's in my best interest to help color blind people distinguish friend from foe |

On colour blindness I thought quite a significant number of males were colour blind, (edit just looked it up, 1 in 20 of males and 1 in 200 of females). I would say it was worth the devs making UI colour options available. |

If the devs could fit this in I think that would add to both personal customization options and allow our colour blind community members a chance to compete, without any handicaps due to the interface being colour locked. |

Sorry guys I misunderstood, if we are talking about HUD color changes only that should be allowed for everyone since they said anyway that HUD will be fully customizable.
but anyway honestly it isn't really a problem when gaming... except perhaps if your CB comrade yells: "watch out for that guy in zebra camo! he's trouble!" but he's actually wearing a tiger camo and you shoot the wrong guy in zebra instead. i have CB friend he never complained about that being a issue in gaming. |
