Though it does appear that the sheer number of such flares would make them more effective, so maybe a cert deep within the tree?

I think something like that would just cause un-nessessary FPS lag. Especially when 100s of people are doing it. It would also look ridiculus :P
That and there are no flares in planetside as it would be to easy to completely avoid anti-air from 2 of the 3 factions (TR using flak) Last edited by Nasher; 2012-06-08 at 03:29 PM. |

You could balance it by making more flares = more protection.
Launch 1, you have a reasonable chance of breaking the lock of a missile that's already locked on to you. Launch a ton, and you make it very difficult to even get a lock on you (although if a lock was successful and no more flares were launched, it would stay locked). Launch all flares, possibly with a maximum flare capacity increase, and you prevent anyone from locking on to you until either A) the flares die, or B) you move a certain distance away from the flares. An additional benefit of launching all flares could be that it became harder for enemies to lock on to other aircraft who were near the flares as well, although it should never be impossible to gain a lock on aircraft who didn't launch the flares themselves. Also, I'd like to see the flares be used for more than countermeasures. Light up a night fight anybody? |
