VS weapons need to shoot more beams in first person


Little purple bullets and a bit of sparking from the muzzle is rather boring and not very VS-like. It needs to be more like PS1 with awesome beam effects.

The effects from VS weapons used by other players also seems to have been toned down a lot. In the GDC video, during the night combat, Higby was getting shot at by a VS guy and the effects were AMAZING, but now I can't really see any in TB's E3 stream.

Don't nerf the laser beams!

I would also like to add that I don't like that the VS MAX holds its weapons like regular guns, arm cannons are more awesome, and it just feels more alien-like.

I feel like the weapons fire needs some tweaking on a lot of guns (good thing it's alpha! lol).

I'd like to see the VS weapons have a little more noticeable beams in first person.

On the flip side, that muzzle flash on the Galaxy gunners needs to be toned way way down. I'm sure their already on top of that one though.

Yes, I'd agree in general. There is nothing wrong with having a caveat in a post that mentions the fact that it's in alpha, or that we won't know such and such for sure until beta, but it shouldn't be the only content of a post.

We are here to discuss and speculate and shit until we have more to go on. So discuss and speculate, and throw in the alpha/beta caveat if you really must.

Yeah but an EARLIER gameplay demo showed the particle effects of Vanu weapons being awesome (though can't say how it looked in first person cause we didn't get any til E3).

Vanu-specific Liberator or Galaxy weapon that is a continuous laser beam! Aaaaand stick a laser weapon on the Vanu MAX, Dual beam weapons! Oh oh oh, and also, let's get some heavy beam weapons for turrets and give them the sounds from Gundam(Like when a huge cannon fired, really sounded like a "heavy" beam weapon). Always loved those beam sound effects!

Er... do you mean the Pulsar that the VS Heavy Assault class was using, or did you get the impression that that was the Lasher 3.0? 'cuz the E3 demo lacked the Heavy Assault weapons entirely.

The problem with big lasers coming out of VS guns (imo) is that they are basically a big signal that says "I'm over here! Shoot me!"

That should be the penalty for not having bullet drop, and it doesn't have to sustain so long like in the GDC video, that's obviously a glitch. PS1 had the laser beam effects pretty much perfect.

I forgot about the no bullet drop for Vanu lol. I never played PS1 but I'll take your word for it. As long as they get it right it would be a good trade off I guess.

Errr I didn't see any laser beams in that video. I saw a load of smoke trails from the rounds coming off of the secondary turrets of the tanks, but no beams. Beam weapons are weird

Are you sure? The beam spam clearly looks like it's coming from infantry, to me.

The beam looking spam is the trails on the end of the projectiles and it's coming from the Magrider.
