Gameplay: The MAX shield!™

I have thought of a completely original idea™ which has never been thought of before and I would like some input from you non-creative people.


Right, first I thought of having a MAX unit forgo the usual dual-wield strategy for a single larger weapon which it could weild, but halfway through thinking about it I realized something much cooler just out of the blue.

Let the MAX have a riot shield!™

A large metal shield™ or energy shield™ (I prefer metal) which would be mounted onto the MAX's arm, it would automatically shield him in the upper-left or upper-right quadrant of his view when idle, and be positioned right infront of him when active with a small slot for vision. it would allow a maxunit to grant allies temporary cover in certain situations such as when ressurecting friendlies or other logistical reasons as well as break heavily fortified positions as they would have to flank the max unit as he approached.

It would be benificial when defending as well as attacking, especially in corridors and entrances.

The downside of course would be that you have to give up 1 gun in order to have a shield and once the shield is deployed you would not be able to attack without exposing yourself.

Bwahahaha! I love how you say that only because you "trademarked" the idea :P I admit, that definitely makes the rest of us non-creative

My only thought about it is that either the shield itself is just a little smaller than what your image shows, or that you must "present" your shield, positioning it directly in front of you and not allowing you to use your weapon. Not saying that the shield won't be effective without presenting it, but you'd just have to turn yourself to get the full effect if you don't want to put your weapon away.

Do some research before you make that claim.. or just, ya know, search, or check the next page.. or have checked the front page of the idea vault in the past 2 weeks, we've been talking about this idea forever, it was on the front page last night.

It even has concept art I've drawn.

But yeah, try to see if anyone else has had your idea before making a brand new thread. Normally, if it was something 3 months old it wouldn't be a big deal, but it's been front page for 2 weeks man and is only now on the second page, it shoulda popped up when you were making your title.

Besides, my concept art is far superior.

Don't go starting up a copy thread for a joke. There's enough spam and copy threads to go around, don't just go increasing the number for some lame joke.

there are enough ideas on this thread its hard to comment and discuss on them all, most of what needs to be said on this idea has been said in that thread, you could have just put your material in that thread, there is not enough new material here to justify a new thread
