The MAX unit. The miniature-Gundam is a near perfect mix between man and machine, the two working together to make a heavily armored high damaging soldier. The question is, what exactly IS it?
Let's say there's an outfit that does it all. Infantry, Vehicle/Armor, and Air. Does the MAX belong in Infantry or Armor? Post your opinions and your reasons behind them. |

Infantry exosuit.
Reason, the exoskeleton serves as an assisted movement/combat device, rather than a piloted/driven vehicle.

I'd say infantry since it fits into an infantry squad way better than into an armor column.
It rides in galaxies and sunderers and works well in base assaults. Conversely it could not keep up with tanks in an outdoor battle and can be killed with small arms fire Then again it takes an engineer to fix up, blurring the line a bit Last edited by FastAndFree; 2012-06-11 at 07:48 AM. |

It's a space ship.
What's important about this? I digress. Here's the points: It is classed as Infantry in the organizational structure, it cannot be exited like a vehicle (every vehicle, I might add), and it's HUD/UI and weapon systems function similar to other Infantry more so than vehicles. However, it cannot hack terminals (which all other Infantry can), it can be repaired by an engineer which is a characteristic of vehicles, and it has way more firepower and armor than any Infantry and is probably tougher (armor AND firepower) than a flash, which is a vehicle of course. So, 3 points for Infantry, 3 points for Armor....It's a space ship. |

I don't understand the reasoning for this poll. An outfit that focuses on armor might like using MAX support in order to give them what they could see as tiny vehicles with nice firepower that can ride in Sunderers with a wide variety of firepower, while an Infantry focused outfit might use MAXes as gate-busters and close range specialists.
It depends on what works, and what each outfits M.O. is. Though if you're just looking for an overall opinion, I voted vehicle but honestly I think it'd be just as valid as an infantry (maybe moreso). |

Is this topic just about the naming or also about damagemitigation of maxes?
Dont really see why it matters in which category it would fit :S damagemitigation however: Imo maxes are armored infantery that should resist infantry fire and be vulnerable to AV-weapons, just like in PS1. They should also give that same "ow f*ck, incoming MAX!" feeling as in ps1 Last edited by Socks; 2012-06-11 at 08:37 AM. |

Seems most peeps are taking it (and I think it is meant) as what type of group should Maxes roll in. And that would be infantry, duh. |
